Dear Newsletter Readers,

To the Table of Contents

In this issue of www.AVP-Newsletter.com you will find latest news on data- and videoprojection/ -presentation. Finally, this fall there has been an upward movement of trade. Consumers are buying again, companies begin to invest. Trade fair organizers can also feel that some companies are already jumping on the bandwagon, others are still hesitant. A big player in the branch, EPSON, has confirmed the participation on CeBIT 2004, but others like Canon and HP have withdrawn from the fair entirely.

1)      Merry Christmas and a successful Christmas business

Home cinema markets boom! What market analysts call "home theatre" has the highest growth rate (over 90 %) in the entire HiFi-field: the overturn will be rising from 480.000 in 2002 to 920.000 pieces in the running year. Second best in growth are micro-HiFi-systems. More than one million are expected to be sold in the running year; 995.000 in the last year  -  says the German Gesellschaft für Unterhaltungs- und Kommunikationselektronik (gfu). Consumers in Germany alone will be spending more than 670 million Euro in 2003 for HiFi-systems, that’s 4,3 % more than last year. However, growth will be expected solely in the home theatre field. A growth of 46 % is expected here.

A GfK-market analysis, which is executed by order of  the Bundesverband audiovisuelle Medien (BVV), confirms this trend. After three quarters in 2003 the home entertainment market shows a new boom; total revenue is +10,4% in the first nine months and the DVD-sales volume is rising about +49,4%.

The new sales records in the home entertainment branch can be mainly ascribed to results in the sales markets which have overexceeded the record of 2002 (629,4 Mio. €) by +20,6% and reached 759,1 Mio. €. Of course, this rise is result of strong DVD-sales.

Merry Christmas and a happy new year!

Yours Wolfgang Schölermann

With its ultra-high 3mm resolution, the ILite 3 is Barco’s flagship indoor LED display product. Gahrens + Battermann is one of the first companies worldwide that invests in the highend-video wall.
