NEC Display Solutions: WXGA-model
NEC NP500W
NEC
Display Solutions is proud to announce the expansion of its recently
introduced projector series (NEC NP400, NP500 and NP600) with an additional
WXGA-resolution model, the NEC NP500W. This makes a wide-format device in
NEC’s standard desktop series of projectors now available for users. The NEC
NP500W is comprehensively equipped and comes with many practical features –
for example, it can be administered directly over a network via its RJ45
interface, or controlled using the Virtual Remote function directly from a PC
via the VGA cable. User-friendly operation is assured by various automatic
functions such as Keystone Correction, Autostart or Quick Power Off. In
addition, EcoMode operation of the device lowers operating costs and enables
a long lamp lifetime. Whether it’s used for portable applications, as a
desktop projector or installed in a fixed location on the ceiling, the 3,000
ANSI lumens brightness of the NEC NP500 means it is ideal for deployment in
small to medium-sized businesses. ISE: 5O94 More: http://www.nec-displays.com |

dnp: Projection screens in live
action at ISE
The ISE
show will mark the European launch of dnp’s new Ceiling Cassette for the dnp
Supernova Flex Screen that makes the retractable screen more discrete than
ever. Apart from the new ceiling mounted version of the dnp Supernova Flex,
dnp will present the Supernova Infinity, which offers unlimited screen size
possibilities. Visitors can also experience why many AV experts consider the
dnp Sigma Screen to be the ultimate optical rear projection screen. A
revolutionary high-contrast filter allows the projected image of dnp’s
Supernova Screens to be reflected from the screen head-on. It absorbs light
efficiently from other sources so the screen remains virtually unaffected by
ambient light. The retractable Supernova Flex combines the revolutionary
Supernova Screen technology with an innovative, aesthetic, space-saving
design to create a high-quality front projection screen. The dnp Sigma Screen
is an optical high-contrast rear projection screen, which is optimized for
the bright environment with high levels of natural ambient. The combination
of extremely high black levels and a matt non-glare surface dramatically
enhances the perceived image contrast and combats reflections from windows
and artificial lighting. ISE: 10N118 More: http://www.supernovascreen.com and

HANTAREX and IGPDecaux at Milano
Linate International Airport
In
November 2008, 55 vertical 57” LCD Totem Multimedia screens were installed at
Linate Airport. The displays are approximately 2.25 meters tall and 1 meter
wide and are only 17cm thick in the single side model and 25 cm for the duel
side model. They have a vertical 57” LCD screen with 180° viewing, very high
brightness and Full HD resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The totems are able
to show very high resolution static and dynamic content. The quality,
definition and image colour are perfect and real like. The 55 screens have
been place by IGPDecaux to insure that each screen can be seen well in areas
with heavy foot traffic, waiting areas, arrival, departures even after the
security check. Citizen, a leader in watches, has purchased the entire
network guaranteeing their domination of the airport. Milan’s Linate
International Airport is considered a “City Airport”, because it is only 7 km
from the city centre. Linate, like Malpensa, is managed by Gruppo SEA, a
company owned by the city and province of Milan. IGPDecaux is the Italian
branch of JCDecaux. Formed at the end of 2001 by the union of IGP (a private
joint venture with RCS MediaGroup), a leader in publicity on public
transportation and JCDecaux Comunicazione Esterna Italia, with the goal of
developing publicity on urban furnishings where JCDecaux is a world leader.

new formats and Quicktime video
Quicktime
videos can now be played directly in Wings Platinum projects. In the past,
high-quality footage that was only available in MOV format had to be
converted specifically into some other format. Today, some of the modern
digital cameras also create videos in MOV format, which can now be played
directly in Wings Platinum. The new version also features a functional
extension for the Starter license: one text track was added in order to
display a title, the credits or any other information. This is a wish come
true for the Wings Platinum users. Texts can now be added or modified in next
to no time without having to resort to Photoshop graphics. Users of timecode
will take a keen interest in the fact that the new Wings Platinum version
allows jumping to a defined timecode from where playback can be started. The
timecode function has been supplemented by two new triggers "Read
external timecode" and "Continue internal timecode". An other
trigger was added that allows execution, via the network module SC LAN Remote
8 of AV Stumpfl, of various actions in Wings Platinum by means of switches.
The SC LAN DMX512 in/out Module can now be used for DMX output via the
network. Previously this was only possible via an SC Net Module. ISE: 1H23 More: http://www.avstumpfl.com 19) RGB: New Matrix-Switcher Linx
8x8sp
RGB
Spectrum has announced the release of the Linx 8x8sp, a compact, one rack
unit version of the Linx 8x8 DVI Matrix Switcher. The Linx DVI 8x8sp is a

comes with Total EDID Manager, a straightforward solution for every digital
routing configuration. Display identification data can be set to pass through
from the display back to the graphics adapter. Other features include Fixed
input EDID, Emulated output EDID, multiple output resolution arbitration and
EDID capture. ISE: 3C96 More: http://www.rgb.com 20) eyevis: ATEME decoding standards
integrated
ATEME SA,
a leader in MPEG-4/H.264 video compression technology, and eyevis, a leading
provider of large scale display solutions for control rooms, have pooled
their resources to be able to provide high-end H.264-based video security
solutions. In order to face requirements of today’s video security systems,
eyevis developed the NPX-IP Decoder Board for its netpix controller series.
The Netpix IP Streaming Decoder Board is the latest development for the
eyevis NPX graphics controller series. It has been especially designed for
the integration of IP Video streams in large screen systems. Its new hardware
architecture allows hardware decoding of any codec format in real-time. The
NPX-IPDB can handle streams from any manufacturer and any codec format, as
soon as the codec is integrated. Each NPX-IPDB can decode various streams
simultaneously, independent from the quality and codec format. Of course, a
primary standard to include was ATEME’s MPEG-4/H.264 technology. Thanks to
the high-quality video compression of ATEME systems and the hardware decoding
architecture of the eyevis NPX-IP Decoder Board it is possible to integrate
several streams per board without affecting the performance of the entire
system. These streams are decoded in real-time without any loss of quality.
The combination of video security products from ATEME and eyevis offer
customers a complete H.264-based solution, especially designed for
professional video security requirements. ISE: 1F80 More: http://www.eyevis.de 21) ict: Mondial de l’Automobile Paris

Signage System at the AUDI Forum
In their
completely refitted AUDI Forum in Ingolstadt, the ever-innovative German
corporation has installed a Digital Signage system, which sets new standards
in multimedia infotainment. The intention is to bring the fascinating world
of AUDI in an emotional, informative and entertaining manor to the thousands
of visitors, whether they are picking up their new car, or just enjoying a
family day out. AUDI was quick to realise that the Digital Signage system in
the company’s prestigious Forum could and should provide far more than the
car pick-up information expected from it. The ensuing concept and project was
therefore devised to combine the necessary pick-up information with
entertaining multimedia elements, such as AUDI’s own TV channel, marketing
videos and live news. AUDI chose SCREEN NT. The company based in Alzenau,
near Frankfurt was the company, which could meet all of AUDI’s criteria for
the infotainment solution. The choice was based not only on the vast
experience the North-Bavarian professionals brought with them in Digital
Signage installations, but also because of SCREEN’s unique technology in
SUNLIGHT LC displays. The company’s 42” SUNLIGHT LCDs were the ideal solution
to the buildings sunlight “problem”. ISE: 12F89 More: http://www.screen-nt.de 23) WolfVision: The new Building with
