1)      ACF – Audio Visual Creative Fair at Heysel

From Wednesday 14th to Saturday 17th of November, Belgian and European audiovisual professionals will once again invade the exhibition halls 11 and 12 at Heysel. The 12th edition of this uniquely positioned European trade fair continues its tradition (it takes place every two years starting in 2006 and stages every other year in Hungary) and should again meet with considerable success with more than one hundred exhibitors from the four corners of Europe covering an area of 22,000qm.

2)      Integrated Systems Roadshow returns from record-breaking tour

Celebrating a 50% increase in both exhibitor numbers and visitor attendance, the Integrated Systems Roadshow has completed its tour of duty for another year. Total attendee numbers were over 600, exceeding all the organisers’ expectations, with visitors coming from a variety of countries, not just the host nations. Copenhagen, for example, drew large numbers of visitors from Sweden, while Slovenian and Hungarian delegates were drawn to Vienna, and Zagreb saw visitors from throughout the former Yugoslav republics, including Serbia and Bosnia-Hercegovina. Mike Blackman, Managing Director of Integrated Systems Events, comments: “With exhibitor and visitor numbers both substantially up on last year, our Roadshow has again proved itself to be a popular and successful means for the industry to 'reach out' to new markets. Visitor feedback in all five cities was excellent, and I was particularly pleased at how well-attended the education sessions were in two of our new venues, Copenhagen and Zagreb.” Post-event analysis of visitor data shows that delegates came from a rich variety of backgrounds, including commercial AV integration, home cinema and automation, conferencing, IT, and consultancy. There were also significant numbers of commercial end users in all cities. In this respect, the attendance mirrors that of Integrated Systems Events’ flagship January tradeshow. The 5th edition of Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) will be held again in Amsterdam, Netherlands from the 29th – 31st of January 2008.

Screen Expo Europe looks set to be 50% bigger in 2008 and has attracted support from exhibitors from 15 nations according to organisers Screen Events Ltd. Commenting, Mark Pigou, Director Screen Events, said: “Early interest from exhibitors and visitors alike has exceeded our expectations. We will be welcoming over 30 new exhibitors to the show and many existing clients have increased their presence with us for 2008. The 15 nations represented will include Russia and India for the first time. We are particularly pleased with this development as it shows us that the market is now maturing and the scope for digital signage and media networks across a broad range of vertical markets is really taking hold.” In 2007, Screen Expo attracted over 3,500 visitors from 46 countries, and covered the full spectrum from commercial and public sector end users through to media owners, entrepreneurs and financiers. The event, which is in its third year, will be held in London’s National Hall, Olympia on 5-6 February 2008.

4)      TI: New Developments in Pico-Projection

DLP Products from Texas Instruments demonstrated the second-generation pico-projector prototype at the Society for Information Display Mobile Display Conference in San Diego, USA. DLP pico-projectors, either as standalone projectors or as integrated components in mobile devices, will provide consumers and business professionals with the flexibility to share video and graphic content in a larger way. Building on the DLP pico-projector first shown in March, DLP Product’s second-generation prototype demonstrates significant advancements in form factor and picture quality from the earlier model. The streamlined prototype is thinner and smaller, which allows easier integration in many mobile devices such as cellular phones, digital cameras and portable media players.

5)      Sony PSE: The Highlight of the new „Big Six“ Series

Sony Professional Solutions Europe presented its first WXGA projector, the VPL-CW125. With the launch of an entire six new projectors in its C-series range, designed for education and business use, Sony has tripled its mid-range of installation projectors. A key addition to the range is the Sony VPL-CW125, which follows the recent note PC trend towards widescreen displays. This top-of-the-range projector features the newly developed 0.74-inch WXGA 1366 x 800 LCD panel for true native widescreen resolution, allowing users to display WXGA resolution PC screen content as well as 16:9 ratio video. The VPL-CW125 projector delivers exceptional image quality, more natural colours and unsurpassed brightness in any room - even if it has awkward obstructions, thanks to its Side Shot Digital Horizontal Shift feature. Plus users have full networking capability and optional Ziris Manage Lite software so you can control your VPL-CW125 and other Sony RJ45 projectors remotely and in real time. Plus, quiet operation is vital for a compelling presentation. At only 28dB in standard mode, the operating noise of the VPL-CW125 is quieter than a whisper. Another new addition is the cooling: Since the lamp is no longer hidden by projector parts, the temperature in the device is lowered tremendously. In result, the lamp life span is extended and operation costs are reduced.

6)      NEC Display Solutions: NEC NP4001 – 15:9 Wide Format Projector

With the new NEC NP4001 projector, NEC Display Solutions is offering a projector in 15:9 wide format for the first time. Its wide format, optimised resolution of 1,280 x 768 (WXGA) and its brightness of 4,500 lumens means the NEC NP4001 is tailor-made for large, bright corporate conference rooms, and public display applications. In addition, it is also suitable for E-cinema applications. Permanent digital signage applications are also no problem for the NEC NP4001– as it designed for 24/7 use with warranty to match. The projector also offers up to 5000 hours lamp life in eco-mode due to its dual lamp design. The new NEC projector demonstrates flexibility through its five optional exchangeable lenses with bayonet connection which can be used for various projection distances. This allows a reproduction ratio of 0.8 - 8.3:1. The motorised lens shift permits up to 10% horizontal and 50% vertical adjustment of the picture on the screen. Zoom adjustment and focussing can also be controlled by motor whilst possible picture distortions can be effortlessly balanced out up to an angle of +/- 40 degrees thanks to the vertical trapezoid correction. With the enclosed 6-segment colour wheel, the NEC NP4001 additionally offers special adjustment of the colour rendition. This colour wheel can be deployed specifically for colour-critical applications and thus guarantees lifelike, colours with simultaneous high contrast.

7)      Mitsubishi Electric: XD510U DLP-Projector

Whether installed permanently or used on the move, Mitsubishi Electric’s new XD510U mobile DLP projector is a highly effective presentation aid you can count on. Thanks to the latest DDP2230 signal processing technology, the XGA projector delivers strikingly improved colour reproduction. But that’s just the beginning of the features that make the projector perfect for professional use in lecture halls and conference rooms. For example, the XD510U offers 2,600 ANSI lumens of brightness for bold images even in partly lit rooms, while its true XGA resolution of 1,024 x 768 pixels and contrast ratio of 2,000:1 provide excellent picture quality. Based on a 0.55-inch DLP chip, the XD510U is living proof of how powerful yet handy the new-generation portable DLP projectors are. Mitsubishi’s new projector can also be used in a wide variety of other environments, thanks to its digital vertical keystone correction feature. Along with its versatility and excellent picture quality, the XD510U also offers easy operation via a remote control unit included as standard equipment.
