SYSTEMS: Exhibitors and visitors
extremely satisfied
SYSTEMS
2005 closed its gates on a positive note. The outstanding highlights at this business-to-business
exhibition for IT, media and communications include its strong orientation to
SMEs, a range of information that sets new
standards with regard to both quality and quantity, the record number of
exhibitors in the sector for IT security, the increased number of exhibitors
from Central and Eastern Europe and the larger exhibition sector for document
management and satellite navigation. With a total of 1,260 exhibitors,
SYSTEMS grew slightly for the first time since the year 2000 (2004: 1,229
according to FKM). Based on initial estimates, more than 60,000 visitors will
have attended this year's SYSTEMS, which is at the same level as last year.
Klaus Dittrich, Managing Director of Munich
International Trade Fairs, takes stock: "We are completely satisfied
with SYSTEMS 2005. Our exhibitors are reporting concrete sales transactions,
some with high volume, and qualified contacts with potential buyers. The
atmosphere in the exhibition halls has been marked by optimism, and the topic
of small and medium-sized enterprises was clearly perceived and positively honored by exhibitors and visitors alike." According
to the head of SYSTEMS, the fair has succeeded in positioning itself as an
exhibition for SMEs, and its new profile has had
the desired effect. "Our more than 60 partners are very pleased with the
way that SYSTEMS is presenting itself and is evolving as a platform for SMEs," emphasizes Markus Käser,
Project Director of the "MODEL COMPANY" consulting initiative. More:

EMP-82
The two new Epson multimedia desktop
projectors EMP-X3 and EMP-82 are ideal partners for education, seminars and
trainings. They are easy to set up and turn off. And they are easy to
operate. These new projectors bring life and lucidity into any classroom and
meeting. Their light weight (approx. 2,7 kg) is a clear advantage and makes
them the ideal partner on the road. Whether they are moved from classroom to
classroom or taken from customer to customer – both projectors are very
flexible and perfectly equipped for all kinds of applications. However, they
can also be permanently installed in seminar rooms or classrooms. Supported
by Epson’s innovative E-Torl lamp technology, 2000 ANSI lumens ensure that
viewers can see a bright picture. The native XGA resolution is 1024 x 768
pixels. The well-proven 3LCD Advanced Imaging technology stands for excellent
Epson image quality. Both projectors run 30 dB in whisper mode. More: http://www.epson-europe.com |

3) ViewSonic: new PJ256D DLP projector
ViewSonic
presents the PJ256D, a 0.99 kilo light DLP projector that has been designed
especially for the demands of mobile professionals. It is ViewSonic’s
first micro-portable projector featuring a brightness of 1,500 lumens. The
easy to operate device has high compatibility and offers excellent image
quality. Thanks to its light weight and its very small dimensions, it can be
transported easily. Connections include PC and DVD player inputs. The
projector can be used for both business presentations and exciting movie
presentations in the living room. Set up is done quickly and easily, the
input signal is synchronized automatically – ideal for mobile professionals
with little ambition for technology. The model featuring a native resolution
of 1024 x 768 and a contrast ratio of 2000:1 will convince viewers with its
pin sharp images in lively colours. Thanks to motion adaptive, progressive
scan and 3:2 pull down, this model shows movies without disturbing artefacts.
In order to draw the viewers’ attention to the most important aspects, the
remote control consists of an integrated mouse function and a laser pointer.
Thanks to optical zoom the representation surface can be changed in the
twinkling of an eye. If the device is operated in whisper mode, the fan noise
is reduced and the lamp life span is enhanced up to 4000 hours. More: http://www.viewsoniceurope.com |

Sony: VPL-CX20 and -CS20 business
projectors
Professional Solutions Europe of Sony Deutschland GmbH offers two flat
LCD-Projectors, the VPL-CX20 and the VPL-CS20, in the sector of
ultra-portable all-round projectors. They are also easy in handling and thus
the perfect solution for mobile computing in daily business. The projector’s
image quality is stunning: The VPL-CX20 offers XGA resolution with 1024 x 768
pixels while the SVGA device VPL-CS20 shows 800 x 600 pixels. A high
brightness of 2000 ANSI lumens guarantees clear presentations even under
daylight conditions. The high quality panels featuring 3LCD technology allow
for expressive, clear images and natural colour representation. Designed for
mobile applications, the small and lightweight projectors can be easily used
in various presentation environments. It makes no difference whether they are
used in large classrooms, small conference rooms or the living room.
Operation is really easy, and tedious instructions are therefore not
necessary. Both devices complete the technical presentation set up entirely
autonomous – just switch it on. Both models also offer a handy „off & go“ function: After disconnecting the power ventilation
still keeps on running. Users do not need to wait for the projector cooling
off. More: http://www.sonybiz.net 6)
NEC: the VT48, VT 58, VT480 and VT
580 projectors
NEC Germany
introduces its new VT projector series. These are the models VT48, VT58,
VT480 and VT580. The VT-series projectors offer all application possibilities
from entry-level model to professional use in education and business. The
entry-level models VT48 and VT58 have been enhanced by quick start function
and SDTV de-interlacer optimizing the playback of
videos. However, the professional models also convince users with new functions.
Both entry-level models are characterized by a 600:1 contrast offering
brilliant images. At the same time, the VT48 features 1600 ANSI lumens and
the VT58 features 1500 ANSI lumens which is an outstanding brightness in this
segment. The whisper-quiet 25 dB boost the projectors’ characteristics making
them almost inaudible. VT480 and VT580 allow for comfortable presentations in
large rooms. Both projectors do not rank behind their smaller brothers with
regards to functionality, on the contrary: The VT480 and the VT580 feature
two PC connections and thus fulfil practical demands. Featuring 2000 ANSI
lumens, both projectors offer enough brightness for large rooms. Enhanced
wall colour correction, the „Advanced Colour Correction“, is a new feature in
this series. Here, the image can not only be enhanced through the colours
green, red and blue but also through composed colour nuances. There is a
special blackboard mode for classroom applications. A clearly arranged
control panel, a remote control with mouse control and a direct signal source
selection altogether help users to securely manage presentations. More: http://www.de.nec.de/home.php/lang/ENG 7) CHRISTIE: Roadster series now with
enhanced power and performance
Christie announced major enhancements to their popular Roadster Series
of compact, purpose-built projectors for the rental/staging, trade show and
exhibition markets. Now shipping, the projectors offer increased brightness
levels and improved cooling efficiency, delivering greater power and performance
to meet the needs of a demanding marketplace. Featuring high quality
next-generation DLP™ technology, the Christie Roadster
S+12 now delivers 12,000 ANSI lumens (typical), an increase of 2,000
ANSI lumens from the previous model; the Christie Roadster
S+16K now delivers 16,000 ANSI lumens (typical), up 2,000 ANSI lumens
from the previous model. Both models combine SXGA+ resolution, variable
contrast ratio of 1600-2000:1 full-field, high quality optics and 10-bit
image processing to deliver crisp, clean images with perfect colour
saturation and exceptional detail. With its built-in handles, stackers, and
multiple rigging points, the Christie Roadster Series is designed to meet the
rigors and stress of demanding staging environments. They respond to almost
any kind of control, including RS-232, RS-422, IR remote, wired remote, and
direct key input to the most-used major functions. User-replaceable
pre-aligned Xenon lamp modules with adjustable lamp power minimize downtime. Auto
set-up quickly and intuitively detects the source and responds with correct
brightness, contrast and positions. Onboard ChristieNET™ networking allows
the projectors to be controlled and maintained remotely from anywhere in the
world. More: http://www.christiedigital.co.uk 8)
BenQ: MP610 – a quiet roommate
BenQ presents the
DLP projector MP610. This device adds to the product portfolio by having a
stunning black shining design including front ventilation. Thanks to SVGA
resolution (800 x 600) the BenQ MP610 is the ideal entry-level projector for
home entertainment. However, in presentations this projector also realizes
brilliant images. To ensure
whisper quiet operation, BenQ adopts special airflow design to cool down the
system temperature, which creates a very effective sound baffle. The last
colour wheel mounting technique in its turn enhances stability. Because of
this combination, the BenQ MP610 reduces audible noise to just 25 dB,
ensuring an undisturbed meeting environment. The BenQ
MP610 will convince users by its brilliant images at a contrast of 2000:1 and
a brightness of 2000 ANSI lumens, thus also ensuring a clear image in
daylight. The maximum lamp life span is 4000 hours in ECO mode. Apart from
the common S-VHS and video chinch connections the projector also has an
additional YUV connection for better image quality when watching DVDs. The BenQ
MP610 projector can process HDTV signals and hence is a secure future
investment. More: http://www.benq-eu.com 9) WolfVision: ceiling visualizers
VZ-C12 and VZ-C32 now available
More: http://www.wolfvision.com 10) UNICOL: AZANA plasma stand
UNICOL manufactures modern and professional
audio furniture, plasma stands and mounts for all
flat screens and video projectors. The AZANA television stand for all plasma
and LCD flat screens between 30“ and 50“ is a new addition to UNICOL’s

Da-Lite: Ceiling Trim Kit for the
Cosmopolitan Electrol
More: http://www.da-lite.com 13) Kindermann: PIXIE display control
Kindermann’s PIXIE display control is an elegant control for projectors and
plasma- or LCD monitors. Connected devices can be controlled easily and
uncomplicated at the touch of a button. The communication between control and
a beamer for example is done by a mere cable. Even untrained users can use
the control immediately and intuitively. PIXIE facilitates the use of
projectors or other equipment especially in schools, conference rooms or
other environments that have many people using one device. Operating errors
are avoided as is the search for the right remote control. With the help of
the clearly arranged keypad all important functions can be pre-adjusted:
on/off, source selection or volume level. The illuminated PIXIE keypad also
facilitates the use in darkened rooms. Interchangeable, modular keypad
inserts guarantee that PIXIE can replace any existing remote control. More: http://www.kindermann.de 14) G+B pronova: first „holo-real“ driving simulator at IAA
More: http://www.holopro.com 15) sax3d.com: holographic projection
foils
As an innovative further development of the
holographic-optical HOPS.® Glass projection surface,
the German sax3d.com Gmbh now introduces the HOPS.®
Foil. It consists of a holographic film laminated between several protective
foils. It is now possible to put on and take off the foil very easily without
adhesion onto transparent projection surfaces such as glass or acryl. The
image is similarly projected as with the HOPS.®
Glass: The projector is connected to the data source (PC, DVD, etc.). The
image that is projected onto the surface in a 20°, 38° or 55° angle from the
rear is directed directly to the viewer. Other ambient light is not dispersed
back and thus just goes right through the projection foil. The screen’s top
priority features are transparency, daylight usage, brilliance and
homogeneity. Due to these outstanding features, there are various application
possibilities for the HOPS.® Foil such as the
POI/POS, especially in shop windows, on trade shows and on events. More: http://www.sax3d.com 16) Liesegang: touch panel – new type of communication
More: http://www.liesegang.de 17) Panasonic: 8 series – latest
plasma display technology
Panasonic presents
the 8 plasma displays series. Well proven technology has been improved even
more: The successful preceding models have been improved. What they have not
changed are the popular upgrading possibilities. New control systems have
been added enabling more brilliant and finer images. Panasonic Displays
featuring plasma technology show their strength where precise images in
professional environments are demanded. A colour spectrum of 8.6 billion
colours and compatibility with high resolution HD signals with the PHD models
allow for brilliant images which are stunning at first sight. In order to be
able to offer the right product for every demand, Panasonic caters its
product selection to significant market demands. As a high definition model
featuring a contrast ratio of 3000:1 the following products are available:
The TH-65PHD8EK featuring a 65” diagonal and a panel brightness of 900 cd/m²;
the TH-50PHD8EK/ES with a 50”diagonal featuring a brightness of 1000 cd/m²,
and the TH-42PHD8EK/ES with a 42” diagonal and a 1100 cd/m² brightness. In
extremely bright environments, the TH-42PWD8EK/ES with a 42“ diagonal can be
recommended: As a model with standard definition resolution, its contrast
ratio of 4000:1 (daylight contrast of 340:1) and a panel brightness of 1200
cd/m² it shows always stunning images. The 42"- and 50" models in
the new slim line design are particularly high-grade: The frame could be
reduced to slim 2 cm – a real advantage in environments where a discreet
technology appearance is critical, e.g. at the POS, in a lounge etc. More: http://www.panasonic-europe.com 18)

AG, More: http://www.friendlyway.de 19) SMART Technologies: 600 series
product launch
SMART Technologies Inc. announced the launch
of the SMART Board™ 600 series interactive whiteboard. The 600 series offers
larger screen sizes, sophisticated styling, an easily accessed Help button, a
hardware expansion slot and new accessories. The new screen sizes are
77" (195.6 cm), 64" (162.6 cm) and 48" (121.9 cm), which makes
the series suitable for installation in larger classrooms with more students.
The SMART Pen Tray has been redesigned to hold new ergonomic pens and an
eraser and incorporates a Help button and an expansion slot. The expansion
slot enables the hardware to be upgraded over time. The first expansion
accessory is a System On module that provides a one-touch start-up of the
computer, projector and SMART Board interactive whiteboard simultaneously.
The 600 series retains all the popular features that made the 500 series the
favourite of educators for the last seven years: finger-touch control, the
SMART Pen Tray and the award-winning whiteboarding software that is powerful
yet easy to use. More: http://www.smarttech.com 20) NEC Display Solutions: multi monitor solution
The multi monitor
solution is an entirely new solution. According to a US study the margin of
error decreased significantly in multi screen operation. NEC Display
Solutions has worked intensively with the special demands of dual- and multi
screen applications and now offers the NEC LCD MultiSync 70 and 80 series - products
that with a variety of features meet the demands of dual screen applications.
Multi screen solutions are used especially in CAD/CAM construction and
planning, in control rooms or in call centres. A big advantage of multi
screen applications in daily business can be found in Office applications.
Using two monitors, the user has a screen that’s twice as large showing
double the information in excellent image quality. The university of Utah
researched this aspect in an extensive praxis test. The results clearly speak
for multi screen solutions: the users did not face any problems with
switching to two monitors. Furthermore, the user’s productivity was raised by
10 percent when using a second monitor, while the margin of errors sank
simultaneously by 20 percent in almost all tasks. The test persons also said
that working on two monitors was easier and more stress-free. NEC Display
Solutions recommends a dual screen solution for customer projects in the
office environment using two 19“ monitors as an optimum. Here, the NEC
MultiSync LCD 1970NX or the NEC MultiSync LCD 1980Fxi are especially
suitable. More: http://www.nec-display-solutions.com 21) ict visualizes the „Fascination Automobile“ on the IAA
Numerous exhibitors
displayed their innovations on the „Fascination Automobile“
theme at the 61st IAA. As an internationally active media
specialist, ict AG realized numerous AV
installations at the booths of their clients. The media core of the specially
erected BMW Pavilion in the „Agora“ open air section of the Frankfurt trade
centre consisted of four rotating stages aligned in a row. The world premiere
of the BMW 3 Touring, the presentation of the new BMW 130i and the concept
cars BMW Concept Z4 Coupé and BMW Concept X3 EfficientDynamics were presented under the slogan „BMW.
The driving force“. Each of the stages consisted of a turntable – upon which
the new cars were placed – with a concentric ring around it. A 20 sqm Chromatek 6 mm LED wall
supported by two steel pillars was installed by ict
on each ring. The stage control was managed by an ict
ControlMachine CM 2 with eight
Multi-Input/Output-Boards, which were responsible for “monitoring” the units.
The new Seamless Plasma Displays were predestined for the MINI booth. Six of
these 42” screens served as bright electronic advertising surfaces rich in
contrast in the „City of MINI“. The 3 x 2 upright plasma wall mounted on a
steel platform, displayed HDTV feed on the theme „MINI Lifestyle“ – without
annoyingly wide seams between the displays. Rolls-Royce as the third brand in
the BMW Group, was equipped by ict with several 63“ plasma displays and conference room technology. The ZF Friedrichshafen AG, made a visionary presentation at the
IAA: The company presented innovations in the areas of dynamics of vehicle
movement and safety using a car chassis which was placed on a turntable stage
for their presentation shows. An LED wall mounted in the booth panel in the
background provided visual support for the presentations. A Chromatek 6 mm LED wall (7 x 5 modules) was used. The
company MAHLE GmbH, Stuttgart, was also equipped with media technology by ict: A row of ten 28“ Barco
monitors integrated in the booth panels behind the counter displayed image
movies fed from DVD. More: http://www.ict.de 22) CL-Group: wish list for video
