1)      photokina 2006: Over 162,000 visitors from 153 countries

There were plenty of new features to discover at photokina in Cologne, especially for regular visitors. The new, state-of-the-art Northern Halls replace the previous Rhineside Halls, and over 162,000 visitors flocked through the two new, spacious entrances. The exhibitors noted that the level of decision-making authority among the visitors was higher than ever, accompanied by a broad international scope. Trade visitors accounted for 65 percent of all visitors, and 40 percent of them came from outside Germany - an increase compared to the previous event in 2004. A total of 153 countries were represented, enabling photokina to live up to its leading international role. Initial results from an independent survey reveal that 20 percent of the trade visitors were retailers, and 80 percent were professional users. The largest group among the resellers was the specialist photo trade, accounting for almost 50 percent.

The "lifestyle media at photokina" special show also attracted a great deal of interest. It featured a whole host of examples of multimedia applications and the many ways in which the latest information and entertainment technology can be networked in the home.

photokina 2006 was attended by 1,579 companies from 46 countries, representing an increase compared to the previous fair. A total of 354 exhibitors and 196 additionally represented companies came from Germany, while 711 exhibitors and 318 additionally represented companies were from abroad. This represents slight growth compared to photokina 2004. The number of companies from outside Germany rose by 5 percent. This year's fair occupied 230,000 m² of gross exhibition space, up from 196,500 m² in 2004.

The next photokina Cologne - World of Imaging - will take place from Tuesday, September 23 to Sunday, September 28, 2008.

8)      avacademia: AV Planning Online

Creating, modifying and printing out effective, personalized projects should be easy to do, ready within minutes and possible from any location. The third generation of avTool is a cost-effective and indispensable product for everyone – from seasoned AV professionals to first-time users. The interactive avTool is designed with an intelligent program architecture and menu navigation to help eliminate operating errors. The database is updated every day, so that equipment and devices used for visualization – such as projectors or flat screen monitors – can be selected and presented in a variety of room configurations. avacademia harmonizes the visualization objects in the database and enters them into the system as configured, which allows for direct comparison. Beside planning of front and rear projection (the latter can also include tilted mirrors), the program allows the user to superimpose the audience perspective with the viewer distance, based on the relevant standards. If needed for automatic dimensioning, the user can insert additional dimension lines. The screen is divided into four quadrants: sketch, side view, front view, and 3D view. These allow for zooming in and out of the detail planning. Password protection ensures that dimensioned projects stored on the web server can only be accessed by authorized users. The user can define the parameters of a scaled print copy of the project in PDF format. The program prints the technical data for the project and the selected products directly into the header. The new avTool is available on the internet in 3 languages (German, English, French).

10)  G+B pronova at T-Gallery

Together with G+B pronova, q-bus Mediatektur GmbH from Berlin realised the “Future Forum” in the “T-Gallery” for the group headquarters of Deutsche Telekom in Bonn. The central element is an impressive media projection onto a total of 12 glass screens. After comprehensive testing of holographic projection surfaces, the original HoloPro™ from G+B pronova GmbH was chosen for the project. The deciding factor was the convincing transparency and brilliance of the HoloPro™.
