Canon: new business projectors
The LV-7240 and the
LV-7245 represent new multimedia business projectors featuring automatic
keystone correction, high resolution and a contrast ratio of 300:1. The lamp
performance of 2100 ANSI lumens with the LV-7240 and 2500 ANSI lumens with
the LV-7245 enable projections even in bright rooms and at large distances. Wall Colour Correction preserves the original image colours when
projecting onto coloured surfaces. The projector's wide-angle 1.2x zoom lens
lets users achieve an image diagonal of 2.5 meters at a throwing distance of
only 3 meters. A 300:1 contrast ratio means images are super crisp with brighter
whites, darker blacks and richer colours. The XGA resolution (1024 x 768) for
razor sharp definition is extendable with high-quality compression to UXGA
(1600 x 1200). Both projectors use progressive scanning which ensures that
projections remain smooth, steady and flicker-free. RGB output allows
connection to an external prompt monitor so users never have to turn their
back on their audience. The Remote Control has a USB infrared receiver that
can control the mouse cursor of a laptop from up to 7 metres away.

6) Toshiba’s world premiere at IFA
Toshiba Projection & Display Technology (PDT) presented
its new LED projector for the first time at IFA Berlin. Brand new on the
market, the LED technology opens up a new world of possibilities for mobile
digital projection at negligible operating costs. The DLP™ -based projector
does not use a lamp as its light source, but LED technology. LEDs (light
emitting diodes) have a major advantage over conventional projector lamps:
they have ultra-low energy consumption, a feature which revolutionizes the
whole design, and thus the potential applications, of the LED Projector. The
“projector of the future” delivers full output on battery power alone for up
to two hours; combined with its ultra-compact design weighing approximately
500 gramms – under half the size of conventional devices - it’s the perfect
companion for maximum mobility. In addition, the projector’s LED technology
significantly reduces operating costs: LEDs produce minimum heat and have a
far longer operating life than projector lamps, eliminating the major
investment factor of new lamps. But despite its small appetite, this almost
noiseless mini-projector is a real powerhouse when it comes to presentations.
Designed for data and video projection, the LED Projector is ideal for mobile
conferencing, but also ideal for home cinema. Included in delivery is an accu
and a foldable screen offering a ready for use all-in-one-solution for mobile
projections.

19) COMM-TEC: New ProPLAY generation
with extended performance
The
newly added VGA output allows users to connect the ProPLAY directly to
cost-efficient TFT monitors, special video monitors are no longer needed
(video outputs are naturally still available). The ProPLAY can also be
directly put up to VESA bores typically found in TFTs. And additional USB
connection facilitates operation in any applications in which the ProPLAY is
not easily accessible. Now, users have the possibility to load new clips via
USB 2.0 on the ProPLAY. From now on the ProPLAY also supports the highly
popular DivX format. Especially when having little Compact Flash memory this
format offers advantages over the MPEG-2 Format. The schedule function of the
integrated real time clock in the ProPLAY can be used to play single or play
lists at individual time in order to provide relevant information at the
right time, for example product advertising at a certain time of day. With
the help of new Logging all clips can be recorded on a log folder on the
Compact Flash card. This is an excellent way to for example measure interest
in various products or to just give proof of POI advertising times to the
manufacturer. Despite of having a serial interface, the ProPLAY does not
require an additional, often expensive, control system for the operation
mode. Clips and play lists can be accessed by easy contacts for example a
motion detector. In result, operation costs are low and the installation
remains manageable.

25) ict: Infotainment takes on new dimensions
Unbelievably high resolution, pin-sharp and detail exact – these were
the multimedia showcases of the future at the IFA trade show booths. The
increased TV viewing pleasure with High Density TeleVision (HDTV), the future
successor of the German TV standard PAL, was one of the central themes at
this year’s IFA in Berlin. Brand name companies such
as Harman International or the German TV station ARD were some of the major
exhibitors at the IFA and they relied on the media technology from ict for the
presentation of their products. On the occasion, the ict team realised
galactic AV installations for their customers. The ict team created
breathtaking experiences for excellent infotainment in cooperation with the
leading agency WengerWittmann GmbH, Munich-Haar, at the Harman International
booth: The world market leader in the professional audio sector presented
their corporate brands on over 4,000 m² display area in the „Harman Galaxy“.
The centre point of this galaxy was a 150 m long and 25 m wide ellipse with
241 plasma displays attached to each other in a row suspended from the
ceiling. The orbit of displays visually united the individual Harman
International brands. The 42” plasma displays mounted on both sides of the
elliptical steel construction were fed from a pioneering DVD synchronous
source never before seen in this dimension. A total of 150 DVD-Players fed
specially produced movie material frame-exact to the plasmas so that
fascinating sequencer effects or brandings for identification of sections of
the booth were represented. The 150 DVD-Players were controlled by several
networked ict ControlMachines CM 2. The professional, reliable ict media
controllers provided the perfect solution for this extremely sophisticated
and complex challenge. The possibilities for administration of the
DVD-Players in groups and the synchronous control features of the ict
ControlVision control software facilitated the reliable and speedy
programming of the project despite the enormous range of hardware. Thanks to the
ingenious control possibilities of ControlVision software all the DVDs could
be provided with the same content simultaneously, which greatly decreased the
production costs. It goes without saying that the visual experience was
additionally supported by audio components to appeal to all the senses of the
visitors. To achieve this, more than 50 JBL loudspeakers were mounted
underneath the orbit providing a 25 channel sound effect to accompany the
images. The Seamless Plasma Displays which are new to the ict product
portfolio and are revolutionary in the plasma sector, had their baptism of
fire on the stage of the Harman International booth: A concave plasma wall
consisting of 4 x 4 screens with only 5 mm wide seam gaps between the panels
displayed large size live camera images on the stage.

28) Barco: Vienna Traffic Authority obtains display wall solution
In the new traffic
control centre Erdberg in Vienna, Austria’s largest display wall is being set up.
Under the project management of ABB AG Vienna, Barco is building an
approximately 50 meters wide rear-projection display wall to increase
operational safety. In order to meet the requirements
of operational safety of the fleet and the corresponding infrastructure, a
new traffic control centre will be established in Erdberg. Barco will provide
a display wall based on the latest rear-projection technology, deployed in
the modern control centre with oval layout, for a concise representation of
the lines and electricity networks. The display wall consists of 144 (48 x 3)
rear-projection modules with a diagonal of 50 inches. Primarily only 76
modules are going to be equipped with rear projection units. Further modules
can be added and upgraded as and when required at a later date. The display
wall is divided into several areas, monitoring different underground lines as
well as displaying the electricity network. These logically defined display
walls are controlled separately. The visualization is realized by control
system pictures in world picture technology, which have been specified by the
department ’Netzleittechnik’ of ABB AG Vienna in close cooperation with the
customer. Particular attention has been paid to the ergonomic needs,
especially concerning picture size and resolution. The rear-projection
systems of Barco`s Overview D series feature innovative designs, e.g. dual
lamp systems and optical dimming for brightness adjustment. The installation of
the display wall will be finished by the end of 2005. After a successful
trial period the infrastructure will be in place for the Vienna Traffic
Authority to continuously improve operational safety.

cinemateq presents itself in a new look
cinemateq GmbH
& CO. KG transforms itself into a high-end full liner for audio- &
videosolutions in the high-quality home cinema segment. The decision to
refresh positioning and design was a logical consequence of the restructuring
of the company to a full-range supplier of exclusive home cinema solutions.
Thomas Greiter, cinemateq managing director, defines the new strategy as
follows: “Apart from offering individual devices cinemateq expands its
expertise particularly to also include complete audio- & videosolutions.
We cooperate with internationally renowned high-end vendors and
specialists in both segments and will position our solution and product
offering still more adequately in the market” says Mr. Greiter and continues:
"Despite our change in positioning, however, we continue to pursue our
philosophy of providing our customers with non-anonymous, but very
individualized consulting." Mr. Greiter explains the new positioning as
follows: “As a full liner we have to be able to offer more than just devices
and accessories. cinemateq will therefore put
increased emphasis on consulting and services and thus intensify support for
its specialist dealers in expanding their customer relationships. Klaus-Peter
Rusche, cinemateq marketing manager, adds: “The new positioning is visualized
first of all by the new logo. But our challenge goes beyond a new logo and a
new colour. Our efforts are the expression of a new strategy designed to make
the cooperation with our partners and customers as well as our high-quality
offering even more successful.” Core element of the re-arranged Corporate
Design is the new logo with its concise figurative mark, the conventionalized
"Q", which stands for cinemateq`s claim to quality towards itself
as a company and business partner as well as to its offering. Together with
the new, more progressive colour red, replacing the green, the new design and
the modern typography provide an improved perception of cinemateq as a
premium home cinema vendor. With introduction of the new Corporate Design all
brochures and internet sites were completely revised and are available
online.

Gateway for US businesses to access the pan European market
Integrated Systems
Europe offers endless opportunities for European companies to create new
business and rewarding partnerships. For example In the UK, financial support
is available to eligible companies through the Tradefair group, which
facilitates the negotiations on behalf of prospective exhibitors and UK Trade
and Investment body. To also demonstrate it’s commitment for US companies,
the organisers of Integrated Systems Europe 2006 have announced that the show
has been granted Trade Fair Certification from the U.S. Department of
Commerce (UDC). Certification means that ISE can now offer a level of
assurance to its US exhibitors for full endorsement of their
products and solutions at the show which will help facilitate export sales
and leverage new business opportunities. The UDC’s Belgium headquarters,
believes that with the 2006 show being held in Brussels – the recognised
commercial centre of Europe - this event will offer US companies many
excellent opportunities. “The support that comes with US DOC certification
allows buyers and sellers from the US to focus on closing deals and form new
relationships with buyers and suppliers,” said Ira Bel, Senior Commercial
