projection on any background thanks to openWARP
"openWARP basic"
represents a flexible solution with regards to geometrically correction of
video- or computer signals that are projected on any kind of screen. OpenWARP
enables the use of standard components in areas that were formerly restricted
to the application of highly specialized image generators or expensive
custom-made projectors. The basics of this flexible and easy solution were
developed at the Max-Planck-Institute for biological cybernetics. The
"openWARP designer" is a comfortable software package that
generates contortions for any screen and projective geometries. Another

pictures. The string-pulling TV establishment for the games, Athens Olympic
Broadcasting, chose the DVCPR050 format from Panasonic as the official
recording format. This included 100 DVCPR050 video recorders, studio machines
AJ-SD955 and AJ-SD930 with variable slow-motion, which were installed in the
international TV centre (IBC). 200 camcorders were used to acquire the
pictures from various competition locations including 100 DVCPR050 camcorders
AJ-SDX900. For previews and programme control 1600 broadcast monitors were
installed, including 1100 LCD displays. For the first time in the IBC DV
recorders from Panasonic were also used - 40 DMR-E555s. For improved playback
of PAL and NTSC signals on plasma displays, LCD displays and projectors a
scan converter was used.

- Dido Tour with G-LEC
For her
current "Life for Rent" tour chart-topper Dido decided on the G-LEC
Classic system for her set-up. With the huge success of the US part of the tour
they quickly agreed to increase the size of the G-LEC-Frames by 50 percent to
a total surface area of nearly 16m² for the Europe tour. Nine G-LEC frames
were also used which were quickly built at short notice in special sizes
which matched the rest of the set-up. Another feature of the show are the
oscillating waves which are partly triggered by the sound on stage. The
decisive point for using ClassicFrame though was the typical G-LEC
transparency which meant that whenever the frames were not in use they
disappear completely from the set and as such are an integral part of the
show.

Griemert-MEDIA
provides a way to get the maximum use out of expensive multimedia equipment
in different conference, seminar and school rooms. The IVALIS media trolley
makes multimedia equipment mobile. The trolley can be configured in various ways

provides the solution to practically any requirement. The concept allows for
a video data projector housed in a ventilated shaft. There is further space
for a laptop or PC. The IVALIS has a stable pull out shelf at table height so

- Whole video market looking for
records
Just as last
year, in the first half of 2004 there have been further record profits in the
home entertainment branch, according to the Bundesverband Audiovisuelle
Medien (BVV). The analyses by GfK Panel Services Consumer Research from Nuremburg,
which are made at the request of the German film promotion institute (FFA)
back this up: the total market profits for record sales and rentals of 632
million Euro in the first half of 2003 have gone up in the same period this
year by a further 14 percent to 720 million Euro. In the last three years the
total market profit in the first half of the year has risen from 489 million
Euro in 2001 by 47.2 percent. The second half of the year with the
traditionally strongest quarter for sales means that in this year in the home
entertainment market record profits can also be expected. The results from
the video sales market are particularly impressive. With a performance of +19
percent (from 493.1 million Euro in 2003 to 586.9 million Euro in 2004) sales
of records also forms a substantial part of the total market growth.

- Samsung´s new interface standard
Samsung
Electronics, leading provider of silicon solutions, has introduced its new
interface standard for display driver ICs for controlling large surface
TFT/LCD panels. Samsungs new CICC standard (Current-Mode Interface of Cascade
Chip-on-Glass/Chip-on-Film) utilises a new technology to transmit data which
connects the source LCD driver IC and the timing controller together. The
CICC standard works with a process which produces less current fluctuation
than up to now. At the same time it uses a serial cascading data transmission
process which allows a direct data flow between neighbouring LCD driver ICs.

- Micronomics: DVD Connector -
interactive DVD on POI/POS
The Berlin
software developer Micronomics´ DVD connector now combines the advantages of
DVD with those of the internet perfectly. The novel silver plate connects the
offline and online medium bi-directionally. If the DVD Connector is activated
in an online device, e.g. computer, set-top box or game console, it makes
contact to the server over its own protected connection. Additional data to
update and complete the desired information are then prepared and are
available at a mouse click. Whatever information the user needs - he stays in
the same navigation menu all the time and doesn´t get dragged out of his own
individual info-show by external links. The DVD Connectors can be used in
many situations and range from presentations on POI/POS to for example an
interactive travel catalogue and e-learning at school.
