Dear Newsletter Readers,

To the Table of Contents

in this issue of www.AVP-Newsletter.com you will find current news about data- and videoprojection/- presentation, and also about the video conference market and the LED large screen systems.

A special feature is this year’s photokina. From 25- 30 September 2002 the doors to the fair will open daily from 10 to 6 PM. The main focus of audio- visual presentations can predominantly be found in the halls 14.1 and 14.2, in the Professional Media/ INFOCOMM Europe sector.

photokina-special

Almost 1,600 suppliers from 47 countries are presenting their innovations on approximately 220, 000m² hall space. The photokina presents itself this year with a smaller number of suppliers than last year. The global players will present themselves in their completeness with even considerably larger booths. This is the reason for the expanded presentation space of 20,000m². “Indeed this is a remarkable result considering the difficult economical times” says Markus Oster, Business Sector Supervisor of Communication & Media of the KölnMesse GmbH at the pre-photokina event of Hamburg’s High Tech Pressclub (HHTC) on 21 August. 160,000 visitors are expected, of which 25% will be from abroad.

ICIA-Seminar

This seminar program will impart comprehensive Know-How about new technologies, product trends and market developments. The ICIA seminars will take place from 26. bis 28. September, all day long in hall 14.1 (booths D 30 und D 40) on an open stage and are accessible for all photokina visitors. Further informations: www.icia.org

Home Cinema Boulevard

Also a new feature of the photokina is the “Home Cinema Boulevard “ in the passageway 1.2 to 3.2. In three cinemas new movies will be presented on DVD about changing projectors which are all of a different price and quality range. The projection technology as well as new LCD-walls and plasma-T’s are going to be explained competently.

Mixed Media Cube

Successful presentations are overall reflections of our self-image. In the Mixed Media Cube (hall 14.1, booth H 80) you can see, hear and smell how the creativity of international media producers and the most modern presentation technologies become a perfect forum for contents. Further informations: www.mixedmediacube.de

Have fun reading and see you at the next edition!

Sincerely Wolfgang Schölermann

2) Fujitsu General: Projectors for home cinema and more

Fujitsu General with the projectors LPF A/B211 and the LPF B601 is showing its new, extended range of projectors. The LPF-B 601 is the first “real” home-cinema-projector of Fujitsu General. Its special characteristic features are the 16:9 LCD panels which make a real 16:9 picture on the screen possible. The projector has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels with a light intensity of 1200 ANSI-lumens. An exceptionally quiet ventilation system (34 db) treats you to a perfect film experience. The new mobile XGA-projector LPF-A 211 is also going to be exhibited at the photokina. It convinces with 2000 ANSI-Lumen, a quiet ventilation system and a weight of only 3,5 kg. With the 4.5 kg light LPF-B 211 Fujitsu General also shows a LPC projector with Poly Silicon Active Matrix LCD Panel in a 0,99” format. 3) Mitsubishi: XL25U/SL25U - Beamer for professionals

Powerful, educable, extremely quiet: at the photokina Mitsubishi Electric presents two new LCD-Beamer, which are able to cope with even higher demands. With 2300 and 2600 ANSI Lumen respectively, the XGA-variation XL25U and the SVGA-model SL25U offer an excellent brightness at a contrast rate of 500:1. Both variations only weigh 5,9kg. The new, attractive design as well as the - in this range - uniquely low noise level of only 27 dB (lamp-modus “low”) should be explicitly mentioned. The XL25U and the SL25 U are both equipped with the prize-winning Natural Colour Matrix, which has been further improved in the third generation, and with the Room Illuminance Sensor (RIS). RIS recognizes the room brightness and adapts all the image representations to the given lighting conditions via automatic contrast correction.

4) Liesegang: World novelty with a new look

Liesegang presents itself with a new design and an extended product range at the photokina this year. With the claim “Popcorn - Coke - Liesegang” the distributor and manufacturer concentrates on the growing industry of home cinema. The company from Duesseldorf delights with one of their strongest products this year, the Liesegang Matrix 02 (LCD/4500 ANSI-Lumen) for spacious rooms, and with the HDTV-world novelty “LuxorII” (DLP/resolution 1200:1) for homecinema.

5) Canon: quiet and bright with LV-7350/7355

Canon presents the new projectors LV-7350 and LV- 7355 at the photokina. They shine in the XGA class and distinguish themselves by an extremely high light power, a contrast ratio of 350:1 and an aesthetic and compact design. The LV-7350 presents itself with strong 1800 ANSI-lumens and is especially recommended for stationary and mobile business use. The bigger brother LV-7355 is with 2200 ANSI-lumens predestined for professional presentations in front of a large audience. With only 4,3 kg these lightweights are operational at any place and are also able to function cordless with the help of wireless LAN. With a reduced and therefore extremely low noise level of less than 36dB, the new projectors LV-7350 and LV- 7355 function in the whisper mode. The Canon Brightsystem is comparable to a Turbo and improves the light performance of both models by more than 10%. The trick of the bright systems: a filter within the projector, which normally optimizes the colour balance is mechanically shifted, so that the light intensity is improved. Both models will be available in stores in September 2002.

15) Epson: Multitainment-projector for beginners

Video and computer presentations become more and more important when it comes to information and entertainment - in the small office/ home office area , at home, or in the classroom. 16) A+K AstroBeam X20 – the pocket-projector!

Anders and Kern introduces the new A+K Astrobeam X20 at the photokina. This DLP-model with XGA-resolution is the smallest and lightest data-/video projector that has ever been offered by the Norderstedt presentation- technique- specialist. At first sight it is hard to believe that the mini-projector with the size of a DIN A5 page (19,5 x 15,4cm, width x depth) reaches the incredibly high brightness of 1100 ANSI-lumens. Even more noteworthy in this context is the fact that it is almost not audible. One can hardly hear its operating noise of 32 dB. The Astrobeam X20 is equipped with a computer-input which can process analogue and digital signals. Furthermore it is provided with diverse useful presentation functions like digital keystone-correction, digital zoom and many more.
