Dear newsletter readers!

This issue of www.AVP-Newsletter.com presents you with latest news from the data- and video projection / presentation.

1)      viscom 2007: 20 to 22 September 2007, Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre

This year’s viscom presents itself in a new form and with new formats. The speed of change experienced in the visual communication sector has reached unprecedented levels. New technologies such as digital signage, new fields of application for instance in inkjet printing, as well as undiminished innovative power in the classical fields of advertising technology, signmaking and light advertising, are indicators for this development. Never before has visual communication shown a greater variety. viscom presents itself with new features such as a “Digital Signage Day“ to be held for the first time on the second day of the fair, a special show area on the subject of “Industrial Inkjet Printing“ and the “demonstration area“ where practical examples of advertising technology will be presented. Other novelties are the Best Practice Award in the Digital Signage segment and the viscom INNOVATION AWARD: both are evidence of the innovative power of the industry as a whole. As the leading international fair for visual communication, viscom opens its gates in Düsseldorf from 20 to 22 September 2007 with more than 330 exhibitors. With some 9,000 trade visitors, most of them billboard and light advertising manufacturers, outdoor advertisers as well as advertising and marketing agencies from more than 80 countries, viscom is the leading fair for visual communication in Europe. The range covers everything from classical signmaking and light advertising to large format printing and ambient media to integrated routing systems.

3)      IS Roadshow: success with new venues and more Exhibitors

The Integrated Systems Roadshow, powered by ISE, will again be pushing back the boundaries when it embarks on a ten-day tour of duty in Copenhagen on Wednesday, 17 October. Capitalizing on the success of last year’s inaugural Roadshow, which attracted over 400 visitors to four different locations, this year’s event will visit five cities, three of them for the first time. After the Danish capital, the Roadshow returns to Warsaw on 19 October and to Prague three days later. On 24 October it visits Vienna for the first time, before finishing its journey in the Croatian capital, Zagreb, on Friday 26 October. This year’s event coincides with AV Week, a series of worldwide events devised by InfoComm International to celebrate the best in the audiovisual industry. Designed to bring a flavour of audiovisual technology and electronic systems integration to some of Europe’s emerging markets, the Integrated Systems Roadshow will retain its successful formula of a hotel-based event, featuring manufacturer training sessions and a tabletop tradeshow. Admission is free, but is restricted to trade-only visitors. With some weeks to go before the Roadshow gets under way, exhibitor numbers are already 50% up on last year, reflecting the growth of Integrated Systems Europe and assuring visitors of an enriched array of technologies in each city. After analysing feedback from both exhibitors and visitors, the Roadshow’s organisers have made subtle but significant changes to the format for 2007. Training sessions are now slightly longer and fewer in number. Another innovation this year is Association-led training, to complement the manufacturer seminars. InfoComm, for example, is offering a module from its Academy Design School entitled ‘Designing For Optimum Projected Image Quality’. The session will be led by Greg Jeffreys of Paradigm AV in Copenhagen, and InfoComm’s Scott Wills on the rest of the tour. Further details, including a full exhibitor listing and hotel information, can be found at the ISE Website.

4)      Canon’s new LCOS projectors, Xeed SX7 and Xeed X700

Ultra compact and ultra bright: Canon enhances its portable LCOS projector portfolio introducing the new Xeed models featuring 4000 lumens and various multimedia connections. Canon’s AISYS technology allows for a very compact design. A fully automated set-up together with a top-quality 1.7 wide lens zoom guarantees excellent operating comfort. The new professional flagship product in the Xeed series is the SX7. The projector offers SXGA+ resolution. The lower priced Xeed X700 represents the entry level model in the LCOS class featuring a stunning true XGA resolution. Canon’s AISYS technology is the result of the company’s long standing experience in the AV industry. Both new models are using a new 275 watt projector lamp. Various ports for DVI, composite video, S-video, component video and SCART, via adapter, enable a processing of almost any image signals – whether analogue or digital. Both models can automatically detect all incoming signals.

5)      Toshiba PDT: ex20 and ew25 only need 50 cm projection distance

Toshiba presents the models ex20 and ew25. Both devices are characterized by the exceptionally wide-angle Extreme Short Throw Projection (ESP) technology and therefore enable minimum projection distances. Both models the ex20 and the ew25 conquer two problems typically found in projection scenarios: Rooms that are too small for an optimum image size and glaring projector light. Thanks to the used ESP technology almost any room, no matter how small, is now suitable for presentations. The extreme wide angle lens achieves an image diagonal of around one meter at a projection distance of only 50 cm. If the projector is mounted onto the ceiling, presenters can hold a presentation without being blinded by the projector’s light. The short projection distance together with the wide-angle lens project the image in an off-set angle of 130 degrees onto the wall making presentations easy and trouble-free. Both the ex20 and the ew25 were designed for applications with an interactive whiteboard. The new Brilliant Color technology developed by Texas Instruments is incorporated into both models – a true novelty.

6)      G+B pronova: the latest HoloPro media display generation

On the occasion of viscom Europe 2007, Bergisch Gladbach G+B pronova presents the latest generation of intelligent HoloPro media displays. At the center of the exhibition is the new HoloPresenter plus featuring integrated i-PrOS touch control. Both the HoloPro film and the i-PrOS touch foil are securely integrated into laminated glass protecting them from outside influences. Thanks to an improved integration of the interface controller, distracting cables are hidden conveniently inside the housing. The different HoloPresenter models are ideally suitable for event applications or as an exciting info display greeting visitors. The HoloPresenter combines all necessary components in one slim column which can be put to use at the POI or POS according to requirements. A new kind of cover protects contrast-rich projectors from manipulation. Furthermore, the new Digital Engine MiniPCs, which can be integrated thief-proof into the stand, make the HoloPresenter a digital signage all-round package. In addition, G+B Pronova and the visualFOOD GmbH present the fresh hardware- and software bundle, HoloPresenter Hello!, at viscom Europe 2007. Lively projections on highly transparent discs greet visitors and give them directions. The screenFOOD® Hello! bundle combines the most important screenFOOD® SA modules for a time-controlled display of various media in one package.

7)      sax3d.com GmbH at VISCOM 2007

The 3D KOALA projection system, sax3d.com’s latest product development, combines auto-stereoscopic viewing with daylight projection. No further accessories are necessary for the ultimate 3D viewing experience. The system works with an XGA resolution at an image size of 1020 x 1350 mm and a diagonal of 4:3. This 3D projection can be experienced by several viewers from different angles simultaneously. Thanks to the use of a holographic optic, projected images can be seen well in daylight or even in direct sunlight. Furthermore, the products in the HOPS ® series are characterized by extremely high resolution. VisuMotion GmbH, based in Jena, developed a network-compatible 3D media player for HOPS 3D KOALA. VisuMotion is also responsible for design and production of the 3D film. The images are projected by a novel LUCAS multiplex projector. viscom: hall 8b, booth H50
