1)      lifestyle media at photokina takes shape

From September 26 to October 1, visitors to "lifestyle media at photokina" will be able to learn about the many ways in which audiovisual signals can be linked and controlled in the home. This section of the World of Imaging will be part of the Audiovisual Presentation and Communication Technology area in the new Hall 9. At the heart of "lifestyle media" will be a presentation area that realistically depicts everyday living spaces while incorporating lifestyle-oriented technologies designed to meet the needs of today's consumers. Koelnmesse has attracted several renowned partners for this activity section of the trade fair. COMM-TEC and Panasonic will be contributing their expertise to the area in the center of Hall 9 measuring over 1,000 sqm. The platform was created by Koelnmesse in cooperation with COMM-TEC and Panasonic in response to the rapidly growing consumer demand for products and solutions for the "smart" home. Divided into different living spaces (such as the living room, bedroom, study and kitchen), "lifestyle media" will present realistic multimedia applications that can be networked in the home. Professional presenters will guide visitors through these areas and demonstrate the systems in a lively, interactive way, and visitors will also be able to try out the systems for themselves. The space will be devoted to all aspects of the image as a visual interface so that visitors can find out just what possibilities are opened up by the networking of today's building technology with state-of-the-art communication, information and entertainment technology. The "lifestyle media" exhibition area will be located around the activity area. Registrations have already been received from lifestyle technology companies that have not typically exhibited at photokina to date, including Bosch-Siemens (household appliances), AMX (control units for building and media technology), Klafs (wellness and saunas), and Ritto (door intercom systems).

2)      SANYO: PLV-Z5 home cinema projector

Right in time for the IFA, SANYO presented its new PLV-Z5 home cinema projector. Compared to the preceding model, the PLV-Z4, the developers especially optimized contrast and brightness. „We had the home cinema fans in mind when developing this new model,“ says Erik Jäger, home cinema specialist at SANYO. The projector features a second HDMI input allowing a more flexible use. A simultaneous input of both HDTV-receiver and DVD-recorder is no longer a problem. The optic that was used in the PLV-Z4 also found its way into the new model. The wide angle lens featuring a projection ratio of 1.36 – 2.77 : 1 as well as comfortable lens shift allow for projecting pin-sharp, undistorted images from almost every angle.

8)      Toshiba has enhanced product line by LCD-projectors

Toshiba Projection & Display Technology (PDT) is enhancing its product portfolio by the „x-series“ that will cover the LCD projector segment. The new, innovative XGA devices are the showpieces of state-of-the-art universities, colleges, schools and other educational institutions as well as companies thanks to the NCE3-Chip developed by Toshiba. To ensure they stay part of the inventory for a long time, Toshiba has equipped them with panel lock and password protection and a removable control panel. The projectors are easy to operate featuring instant shut down, quick start and multiple connectivity for flexible usage. Toshiba’s x-series includes all in all seven LCD-projectors:  x2000/xc2000/xd2000, x2500/xc2500 and x3000/xc3000. Color optimizing is based on NCE3 (Natural Color Enhancer 3), a chip developed by Toshiba that is especially designed for the use with LCD-projectors. The user can choose between various image modes so that colours are represented according to specific demands. Brilliant colours are the result. All models are characterized by a number of additional features. The Education series x2000 and xd2000 offer a brightness of 2000 ANSI lumens. The models x2500 and x3000 have been introduced to the market in August featuring a brightness of 2500, and 3000 ANSI lumens respectively. Moreover, as of September Toshiba will offer models that feature an integrated camera. This allows the projectors to be used as overhead projectors.
