On an overall area of 160.000 qm again this year will prove to be the world's largest consumer electronics exhibition. For six days, IFA opens its doors to European retailers, interested consumers, and the media.

All of the world's leading manufacturers are present at IFA showcasing a full spectrum of consumer electronics products. Six special sections focus on the entire range of consumer electronics on display at IFA 2003: audio systems, high-end electronics, car media, television, video, camcorders, digital imaging, information & communication electronics, entertainment, online services, antennas, satellite systems, broadcasting & studio technology, and mobile/stationary telecommunication.

IFA is also a perfect environment for new, hybrid products interfacing entertainment, communication, and information technologies. Radio, television, streaming media, and information services represent the full media mix available to content providers. IFA presents the latest applications in full detail.

Whether in school, in training or in adult education, the demand for visual computer information is rising. Today, what is generated electronically, should be presented electronically. 6) InterConnection: Plasma-TVs contra CRTs

Although the European economy is currently undergoing a critical phase, one product sector is able to claim large increases for itself: the market for plasma monitors is growing continuously. And the trend is still pointing steeply upwards, as the newest study by the European market research company InterConnection shows. The study shows that 58,3 % think it’s likely that Plasma-TVs will replace CRTs. Knowledge about the latest home cinema devices has immensely increased and its popularity has grown. Compared to last year (50-85 %) today more than  90 % are familiar with the Plasma-TV technology. 75 % out of all asked people would like to have a Plasma-TV home cinema. The main reason why they yet refrain from purchase is the price. 58,3 % consider plasma TVs  and 71,1 % consider back projection devices  as a replacement for a conventional TV set. The difference between the two: Plasma TVs are more likely to be bought than back projectors instead of higher costs because they require less space. LCD TVs are favourites by only 49,1 % because they are not yet available for a long time and people can’t foresee which direction development of LCD TVs will take.

27) Creative Lighting: exhibition in the Arteum Dresden

On 18 and 19 July CREATIVE LIGHTING media technology GmbH & Co. KG invited to its exhibition in Dresden. Numerous corporate clients, event agencies but also competitors could experience on-site the ability and new possibilities of professional media technology. One of the highlights of the exhibition in the Arteum was a projection with a dimension of 8x3 metres generated by using the High-end video mixer Folsom ScreenPro PLUS 1604. Upon the changing background two windows were to be seen. One of it showed a video, the other showed the live-picture of a camera standing in the foyer. With this equipment up to 6 layers can be realized. The salient feature is the possibility of trouble-free combination of several image formats and signals. A impressive projection onto a wide screen (8,7 x 3,0 metres) and six 50" plasma displays was realized by using of DATATON Watchout Software.
