5) Canon: New models for portable projection
Canon
announces a new era for portable projection with the introduction of two new
XEED multimedia projector models. While the XEED WUX10 forms an all-new
addition to the XEED range, the XEED SX80 succeeds the popular XEED SX60 with
a range of modifications and new features. Both models are ideal for use in
boardrooms and conference centres, as well as specialist applications such as
CAD, simulation and medical environments. Other possibilities include lecture
theatres, sports and media bars, and professional photo applications. The
XEED WUX10 and XEED SX80 employ LCOS panel technology. Designed in-house by
Canon for optimum performance with other projector components, these panels
overcome conventional projection setbacks – seamlessly reproducing fine
detail with no unwanted ‘lattice’ or ‘rainbow’ effects. LCOS performance is
optimised by Canon AISYS (Aspectual Illumination System). This optical array
maximises light path efficiency, delivering two key advantages: outstanding
brightness levels of 3200 lumens (XEED WUX10) and 3000 lumens (XEED SX80),
and contrast ratios of 1000:1 and 900:1 respectively. With respective
resolutions of WUXGA (1920 x 1200 pixels) and SXGA+ (1400 x 1050 pixels), the
XEED WUX10 and XEED SX80 offer sufficient levels of detail for specialist
applications such as CAD, simulation and medical imaging. WUX10 also allows
projection from the latest high-resolution 16:10 aspect ratio PCs, without
compression or panning of the desktop image. More: http://www.canon-europe.com 6) Mitsubishi Electric: XD530E - WLAN projector for wireless
presentations
With fast, wireless signal
transmission from PC or notebook via WLAN, the XD530E is the projector of
choice for users who want to maintain the greatest possible independence and
flexibility while ensuring high image quality. The XD530E’s low weight of

high-quality picture, while the system’s innovative DDP2230 signal processing
ensures natural colour reproduction. The Splash-Screen function makes it
possible to project a company logo while the device is starting up. The
remote controllable projector can also be switched off immediately after the
presentation (Instant Shut-down). The high service life of the lamp – up to
3000 hours in low mode – ensures reasonable service costs right from the
start. The convenient lamp access from the top is particularly advantageous
for maintenance. More: http://www.mitsubishi-evs.de/en/home.asp 7) Christie: Single-Chip DLP-Projector DS+655

Since the time of its inception in
March 2004, Oman Mobile remains the leading mobile telecommunications service
provider in Oman. Being a dynamic and agile market player Oman Mobile serves
its ever growing customer base exceeding 1.6 million subscribers by delivering
value-for-money and a wide range of cutting-edge wireless voice and data
services and optimal network coverage. Oman Mobile provides more than 43
services for its postpaid and prepaid subscribers and active roaming
partnership with countries all across the world. For the control of the
company’s network and its services, Oman Mobile established a new network
operation centre in an existing building. The fast growing of the company has
lead to the decision to move the company to another building in the near
future. Therefore, the mobility of the installed components played a decisive
role for the purchase. The heart of the new control room is a large scale
video wall made up of eyevis rear-projection units type EC-67-SXT+ -DL. The
cubes were built up in a four by three configuration and provide a combined
desktop surface with almost invisible gaps between the adjacent cubes. Each
of the cubes provides 67” screen diagonal and SXGA+ resolution (1400 x 1050
pixel). The video wall is controlled by an eyevis netpix graphics controller
which creates the combined desktop and allows shifting and scaling of the
displayed sources independent from the borders of the individual cubes. The
eyecon wall management software guarantees comfortable operation of the system
and control over all connected signal sources. The installation contains the
following eyevis components: 12 x EC-67-SXT+ (DLP-rear-projection cubes with
67” screen, SXGA+ resolution and automatic double-lamp-system), 1 x
NPX-3812-V16-D8-L2 (graphics controller) and 1 x eyecon Basic Software +
Capture Module. More: http://www.eyevis.com 19) RGB: Advanced A/V equipment for the Texas DOT
Traditionally,
the solution to resolving traffic congestion has been to construct more
freeways and highways. But funds for highway expansion are limited,
constraining the ability of states to mitigate increasing traffic and
congestion problems. Rather than building the way out of these problems,
better management of the existing system is necessary. To accomplish this,
the Texas Department of Transportation (DOT) has developed a new methodology,
called the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). ITS integrates innovative
traffic monitoring technology with inter-agency coordination to provide a
seamless transportation network. The core of the ITS system is Texas DOT's
new Daltrans traffic management facility which applies advanced electronics
and communication technologies to enhance surface transportation systems. The
Texas DOT contracted with national audio visual integrator CCS Presentation
Systems to design and install advanced A/V equipment for the new Daltrans
facility. Kim Ott, Systems Sales Engineer for CCS Presentation System's
Dallas office, directed the project design and implementation. Ms. Ott
described the project and its mission, "The Daltrans Intelligent
Transportation System required real time acquisition, dissemination, and
display of multiple video sources onto one centralized viewing area. RGB
Spectrum's 4View multi-image display processors are the backbone of the ITS
collection and communication system design. The processors provide Daltrans
personnel with live views of correlated information to improve their
situational awareness, assessment capability, and response effectiveness."
Ott continued, "ITS traffic management deals with various types of
congestion: non-recurring congestion caused by stalled cars, flat tires, and
traffic crashes which delay traffic and recurring congestion at locations
that do not meet the demand of high numbers of vehicles. The Daltrans
facility's fifteen 4View processors are an essential component in providing
personnel with a real-time picture of what is happening from multiple visual
sources, enabling Daltrans personnel to enhancing traffic flow and manage
congestion more effectively." The 4View processors support composite,
S-Video, and component video inputs. They receive live feeds from remote
surveillance CCTV cameras placed throughout the Dallas areas freeway system,
local television broadcasts, a DVD player, and DirecTV broadcasts. These are
combined as multi-window images and fed to an array of display systems,
incuding five Panasonic PTD5700U rear-screen LCD projectors joined together
to create a massive display wall, Viewsonic VP 2130b LCD displays at each of
the eight monitoring stations, a Mitsubishi 42-inch LCD display in an
adjacent viewing room for the local Media, and a Samsung 65-inch LCD display
in the facility's lobby. More: http://www.rgb.com 20) DMi D&M: Downloadable upgrade for DENON CI AVRs
DMi
D&M Installation has announced a major firmware upgrade for its top of
the range DENON AVR-3808 and AVR-4308 network enabled A/V receivers. The
update, downloadable via the receivers’ internal online upgrade function,
introduces Audyssey’s new Dynamic Volume level control; the first ever
implementation of this advanced new technology. The introduction of Dynamic
Volume provides these receivers with a complete suite of the latest home
theatre correction technologies. Dynamic Volume completes a suite of three
highly sophisticated Audyssey correction technologies: Dynamic Volume, a
ground breaking level control system, provides for hands free listening –
without the need to reach for the remote to adjust the volume between loud
and quite passages in a movie soundtrack, or differing volume levels between
television programmes, commercials, and within programme material. Dynamic
Volume monitors the audio signal moment-by-moment and constantly adjusts to
the user’s desired listening level. Simultaneously, Dynamic EQ loudness
control dynamically optimises the signal’s dynamic range in order to preserve
audio impact, even at the lowest volume. Together these processes provide for
the most effective, unobtrusive and natural sounding level control system
ever devised. Completing the suite, Audyssey MultEQ-XT advanced room
correction deploys uses high resolution (frequency and time domain)
equalisation filters for satellites and subwoofers. Corrections calibrated
from up to eight room measurements eliminate signal distortions caused by
room acoustics. As well as Dynamic Volume, the upgrade also introduces
Consumer Electronic Control (CEC) HDMI protocol support for these AVRs: CEC
carries control function data between HDMI connected devices, providing a
bidirectional serial bus. The upgrade will be available from October 2008,
via internet connection between the individual AVR and the DENON Product
Management Server and will be a simple procedure for custom installers to enable.
Further details, including pricing, are to be confirmed. More: http://www.dm-i.eu 21) Invision UK: Parasound rings the changes
