Dear Newsletter Readers,

To the Table of Contents

this issue of the http://www.avp-newsletter.com/ informs you about the latest news on audio-visual video projection and presentation. Read about InfoComm Orlando exhibition news as well as a first outlook on the products that will be launched at the IFA. This issue presents you with several projector news and interesting summer extras.

1) Stagnation in B to B, Homecinema boom

According to British market research institute Decision Tree Consulting (DTC), in the previous quarter a total of 43,190 projectors were sold in Germany. Thus, compared to the same quarter in the previous year, this year the market is characterized by a considerable growth of 11,519 pieces (+36%).  Gerd Holl , Director Marketing & Sales Toshiba Europe GmbH, Professional Visual Products comments upon the current situation: "In comparison to the year before the German projector market is characterized by a considerable growth which is mainly found within the home cinema market. Due to fallen prices in this segment a broader group of buyers could be attracted. The recession of investment within the professional area does not lead to any increase in the b-2-b business. This will probably not change within the next two to three months.“

This trend is also noted by Vienna market research institute InterConnection Consulting. In its latest study about the European home cinema market the Vienna market researchers come to the following conclusion: in the first quarter 217,765 home cinema products were sold (33,73%), LCD-TVs (26,12%), front-(15,12%) & rear-projection systems(25,03%). IC expects a continuing growth in the home cinema market accompanied by a continued price dropping. In order to win home cinema users as customers, in the future manufacturers need to do sales via CE retailers. However, only a small number of known brands are usually listed with retailers which makes it difficult for smaller suppliers to get started in the market.
