and video projection / presentation. 1) viscom frankfurt 2008 enlarges exhibition area
Five
months before opening, the International Trade Fair for Visual Communication
can report a lively demand. Even at this early stage, the exhibiting
companies have already booked an area ten percent larger than was the case
for the previous event in 2006. So far, a total of 145 exhibitors from 17
countries have confirmed their stand booking. In addition to an extensive
supporting programme with numerous seminars, workshops, lectures and
practical examples from the entire field of visual communication, viscom addresses topics such as Digital Signage and
Industrial Inkjet Printing and presents a special show with innovative

3) The European Digital Signage Show
Digital
Signage is growing exponentially in virtually every sector. Successful
deployments can now be seen, not just in trains
stations, shopping malls and major retail stores, but across the board in
just about every walk of life. KioskCom – Self
Service Expo Europe already delivers both exhibitors and attendees focused on
digital signage, and so provides the perfect platform to introduce The
Digital Signage Show to Europe. KioskCom draws on
over 12 years experience of successful events in the States where the show
takes place twice a year in Las Vegas and New York. The event was brought to
Europe in 2006 with huge success. Now in its 3rd year the show has grown
significantly in both size and attendance. Each year it has seen increases on
every key performance level, and for 2008 it will take place on 1-2 October
in Olympia, London with over 100 exhibiting companies. More: http://www.kioskcomeurope.co.uk |

6) CASIO presents eight new super slim business projectors
CASIO
introduces eight new super slim models from their successful range of
slender-fit projectors. The highlights of this launch are the business models
XJ-SC215 and XJ-SC210 with 2,500 ANSI lumens. Extremely lightweight and flat,
these two new products particularly stand out due to their excellent colour
reproduction. The super slim models XJ-S57, S52, S47, S42, S37 and S32 will
be available at the end of July. All new models in the XJ series have an
RS232c interface which allows projector operation via the controls and
integration into existing systems. Technical enhancements in the new
high-performance business models XJ-SC210 and XJ-SC215 with their USB
interface are centred on colour reproduction optimisation in projections. To
realize such an improvement, CASIO has introduced a specially developed
colour wheel. The new intelligent lamp control has also decidedly improved
colour reproduction of these super-slim projectors. The super slim models
XJ-S37, S47 and S57 can be quickly and easily connected via a direct link to
CASIO FX-9860G graphing calculator models or to the YC-430 camera system.
These projectors can also be used to give presentations without the actual
need for a laptop or PC. To do so, the supplied EZ-Converter Pro software
will convert all printable files into JPEG format – files can now be shown
directly from a USB stick, a remarkably easy and uncomplicated process. More: http://www.casio-projectors.com 7) Kindermann: Bright and professional KX 5000 XGA projector
Kindermann presents the KX 5000, an exceptionally bright XGA projector for large
projection screens suitable for the education sector and for seminars and
conferences. Thanks to a stunning brightness of 4500 ANSI lumens, a very low
noise level of just 29 dB, a LAN connection as well as the possibility to use
interchangeable lenses (available as of July), this 3 LCD projector is
perfectly equipped for fixed installations. Featuring five different signal
inputs (VGA, DVI, video, S-video, component video), the KX 5000 can process
signals with a physical resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels, interpolated also up
to 1600 x 1200 pixels. The standard wide angle lens allows for large
projections from a short distance, and the two telephoto lenses available

screen
The
Ascender Electrol is conspicuous by its discreet
absence. But for all that, the screen is ready for a presentation in an
instant, truly taking the audience by surprise. Meanwhile, the projection
room's interior design elements remain intact, as the technical fittings are
seamlessly integrated with the floor or within a decorative element in the
projection room. The Ascender Electrol's advanced design
enables it to blend invisibly into its surroundings. The screen folds and
unfolds silently in a single flowing movement. This is made possible by an
advanced motorized tensioning arm which is located behind the projection
screen fabric. An inbuilt safety device prevents the screen from being raised
if the trap door is blocked. The Ascender Electrol
rises quickly and silently from floor level. It disappears again just as
silently, stored away out of sight behind an electrically operated panel. The
Ascender Electrol's exceptionally durable case and
its top-quality Matte White S projection screen fabric (with black backing
and all-round matte black border) make this projection screen one of the very
best on the market. The Ascender Electrol is
available in video (4:3) and HDTV (16:9) formats in widths of up to four
metres. The projection screen fabric is totally seamless for all standard

At InfoComm 2008 Dataton launched
version 4 of WATCHOUT. Stronger than ever, it adds new dimensions to
presentations, including interactivity, control functions and sheer
productivity, WATCHOUT 4 is guaranteed to wow producers and clients alike. In
brief: WATCHOUT 4 adds Auxiliary Timelines, Compositions, Stage Tiers, Movie
and Audio Export capabilities. It bridges to other commonly used systems
using familiar DMX512, MIDI, TCP/IP and serial data control capabilities.
Auxiliary Timelines resemble the main show timeline in WATCHOUT. The big
difference is that an Auxiliary Timeline lies dormant until you call it into
action – manually or by an external input. Use an Auxiliary Timeline as a
backup track or for a quick escape to other show elements if you suddenly
have to change tack midstream. Or trigger an Auxiliary Timeline from an
external input to interact with your show as it runs. Composition is a new
concept in WATCHOUT 4, designed to make life a whole lot easier for
producers. It lets you group a set of cues on their own sub-timeline and then
treat them as a single, cohesive media element. It’s a snap to re-use or
shuffle show sections, or to apply motion or other effects to the entire
group. Use Compositions to re-use or transform complex animations involving
stills, video, audio and other elements, complete with all the powerful
effects WATCHOUT has on tap. External control is your gateway to
interactivity in WATCHOUT 4. Use MIDI or DMX512 signals as inputs to trigger
tasks and control tween-tracks in your WATCHOUT
show. Output DMX512 to control lighting channels and other devices, or send arbitary data from WATCHOUT to other systems or devices
via TCP/IP, UDP or serial data protocols. More: http://www.dataton.com 21) ict: drupa 2008 - World of experience „Print“
Every
four years, companies in the sector meet at drupa
(29th May to 11th June 2008 in Düsseldorf). The company Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG completely occupied two halls and they
presented their products categorized in seven theme worlds. For the
corresponding emotionalization of this large area
market space, Heidelberg relied on the professional video technology of ict AG. As well as extensive display technology
installations which provided information about the wide range of Heidelberg
products and the company itself, extraordinary multi-media exhibits particularly
set the scene at the trade fair booth. For example, the ict
media mechanics department developed a horizontally movable scanner
consisting of two Seamless FlatScreens mounted one
above the other which represented a virtual “X-Ray image” of the internal
operation of the printing machine. The scanner, which moved mechanically at a
pre-determined speed along a 15 meter rail system located on the ceiling and
floor, was controlled by the presenter who, at the touch of a button on the
remote control, could move the scanner along various machines thus providing
visual support for the presentation. The positioning of the scanner and the
corresponding image content was synchronized and controlled by an ict ControlMachine which was
integrated in the scanner. Additional mechanical elements were developed by ict for a vertically movable 65“ display: At the
beginning of the show, the Display emerged from a recess over the edge of the
booth and „disappeared“ back into the recess again at the end of the
presentation. Thus, in the off-show-mode the screen did not interfere with
the total design of the fair booth. The ict team
also integrated 17“ ict LCDs as well as feed and sound technology in several
so-called „printer in a box“ exhibits. By opening the boxes, visitors were
able to view video movies on the individual machines. More than 100
additional displays, tennagels curveLED
as well as audio technology were also installed by the ict
team at other drupa trade fair booths. More: http://www.ict.de 22) Aethra: Hacker-proof Video Conferencing

Toshiba
succeeded in retaining its market leadership for short-throw projectors in
EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) in the first
quarter of 2008, with a market share of 20.4 per cent. The Japanese
manufacturer also retained its status of market leader in the WXGA sector,
with a 20.1 per cent share of the total market (source: DTC). Toshiba has
therefore demonstrated its success with customers in two growth markets
simultaneously. Shortthrow projectors feature an
ultra-wide-angle lens which can project images from extremely short
distances, enabling convincing presentations to be held even in small rooms.
The native aspect ratio of wide XGA projectors is 16:10, an increasingly
popular format for notebooks, meaning that they project this format without
conversion or distortion. More: http://www.toshiba-projectors.com 29) Panasonic consolidated leader on the professional display industry
With the
year 2008 first Quarter (Jan-Mar) panel data just released, the leadership of
Panasonic within the Professional Display industry remains unquestionable. A
25% Market share in total Flat Panel Market over 40”, including Plasma and
LCD (the nearest competitor with a 16% market share), and a 48% Market Share
in Professional plasma (the nearest competitor with a 15% market share) keep
competitors far away. (DTC Worldwide results Q4 Jan-Mar 08, EMEA Flat Panel
>40”). While the AV industry is used to continual change, the pace is
accelerating. Crystallising the trend; large format displays are flooding the
commercial sector in the form of out of home advertising mediums, point of
information & public display devices. Parallel to the demand for dynamic
displays to capture peoples attention, the market
trend shows a total lean towards the larger sizes of flat panel display, with
screen sizes of forty inches and above taking the limelight. We are seeing
