21)     MediaVision: Magic Virtual Aquamania

Event presentation a generation further... At the Marketing & Services Exhibition in Hamburg, MediaVision used a fantasy virtual aquarium to present a special kind of visual experience. Visitors to the exhibition were spellbound - all of a sudden you were in the middle of the sea, fish disappearing and reappearing on the virtual shore. Each step over the virtual water causes an acoustic and visual splashing, waves come and go in a sound animated water facade. A PC animates the particular movements using sensors. A projection system projects the movement-controlled presentation show onto a light floor covering. And so the exhibition stand turns into a beach party. The Magic Virtual Aquamania Situation can be extended to the size of a football pitch. Instead of fish you can integrate products, logos or other objects and instead of water, glowing lava masses can be projected. Special solutions and hiring costs on demand.

32)     G+B: New - i-Lite 6XP - in Rental Pack

The new Indoor Daylight Display System i-Lite 6XP from Barco is the brilliant latest development in i-Lite 6 technology. Gahrens + Battermann have converted all the modules in the rental pack to this new quality standard. With only 6mm pixel distance the indoor LED display is the high-end solution for quality video and data presentations in daylight. Upgrading to i-Lite 6XP technology provides a new colour quality. The enhanced colour depth allows smooth crossovers with more colours and grey tones. The homogeneity of the modules amongst themselves is also impressive. The improved calibration ensures that colours are even more brilliant. The modular construction of the system provides excellent flexibility of size and format; almost any screen size and width-to-height ratio can be realised. Its extremely short viewing distance and minimal width of 150 mm mean that the i-Lite 6XP is especially suited to uses where space is at a premium at exhibitions, presentations etc. and above all because all the video signals can be fed through.

36)     Successful P&E Expo in Beijing (+31% visitors)

For the imaging branch, China is THE growth market. The results of the Imaging Expo/China P&E in Beijing give further weight to this opinion. The Photo and Imaging Exhibition had around 67,000 visitors, 95% of whom came from China itself. The rest were mainly specialist traders from neighbouring south-east Asian countries. That is about a ten per cent increase in visitors over 2003. The proportion of specialist visitors - salesmen, dealers, and importers - was around 46,000, some 31 percent higher than the year before. The organiser of the Imaging Expo, Koelnmesse GmbH, hailed the results as a clear proof of the success of their targeted visitor marketing. Over an area of about 8000 m2 (27 percent more than 2003) around 250 exhibitors from 18 countries presented a broad spectrum of imaging products and services for the Chinese market. There were also 11 exhibitors from Germany including Agfa and for the first time on a common stand with six other firms, Leica Cameras, Optische Werke Schneider, Rollei and Tetenal.

38)     bvv: Latest DVD Market Data 1/2004

An analysis by GfK Panel Services Consumer Research GmbH in Nuremberg shows that the profit from DVD and conventional video sales and rentals reached a new high for the first three months of the year with a total of €361.5 million in the first quarter of 2004. That represents a further increase of 8.1% over the record profit of €334.3 million (2003). The profit growth has resulted above all from continuing booming sales of DVDs. Sales of video-cassettes fell by 39.2 percent to €32.7 million compared with 1/2003 whereas DVD profits rose by 28.8 percent to €250.1 million. The DVD sales boom more than compensated for the fall in video-cassette sales; altogether sales reached a total growth of 14.0 percent. In contrast to the sales market the figures for video rentals are not so positive. After the dramatic fall of profits in 1/2003 of -17.6%, a reduction of -8.8% in the same time period can be seen as a consolidation.
