35) TFCinfo Report: Projector Market Analysis Report (USA)

Highlights from the recent TFCinfo Projector Market Analysis Report show that in the fourth quarter of 2004 the market-share of value priced 1000-1500 lumen SVGA projectors continued to climb, reaching a recent high of 38.6%. This growth was largely driven by sales in the retail and direct to end user segments and by substantial inventory buildup in the IT and retail segments. The majority of the gain came from retailers that introduced projectors in 2003. The growth in retail sales was largely produced by SVGA 1000-1500 lumen models, such as Epson´s S1, InFocus´ X1, and Toshiba´s TLP-S10. This rise in SVGA 1000-1500 lumen sales has created a split in the US projector market because at the same time projector sales in the traditional ProAV business channel are now trending towards premium higher brightness 1600-3000 lumen models. Other Manufacturer´s sales, inventory and market share highlights include: The sales weighted average best price for an XGA projector in the IT/Retail channel dropped 4.7% in 4Q03.

-   Micronas Presents Synchronizing-Solution

The Micronas Audio Delay IC MAD4868A acts as a delay line for TV audio and consumer audio applications. The IC is designed for synchronizing audio and video signals ensuring "Lip Sync" by delaying the audio signal with the same amount of time as the video signal is delayed in a TV´s video processing. For TV designs, independent signals for loudspeakers, headphones and line-out or S/PDIF out must be provided, resulting in the need to delay six independent audio channels. Especially modern flat panel TVs (LCD- or plasma-TVs) require "Lip Sync" because of their video deinterlacing, processing, scaling and pixel-oriented display. The MAD4868A is equipped with all interfaces, as well as embedded RAM. This makes the IC easy to use and avoids RAM availability and pricing problems. In its PMQFP44-1 package with 0.8 mm pitch, the MAD4868A requires only little PCB space but is suitable for wave soldering and reflow soldering.
