+ Sound
The VIOSO GmbH will show the
Software „smartprojecting 2.0“. Once installed on the PC, smartprojecting
becomes (no matter which beamer is used) an easy to handle. The bestseller
features are the assisting features to optimize the projected image while
dealing with new and unknown beamers, adverse projection conditions like
skewed or uneven surfaces, a variety of different files and formats, and so
on. With smartprojecting all these problems belong to the past. Unique is the
possibility of projecting on almost any surface, which enhances the field of
application many times over. Simply connect a digital camera and the
smartprojecting-technology adjusts surfaces like rock faces, colored
wallpaper or curved backgrounds into a virtual white and even canvas. New at
the Prolight + Sound will be smartprojecting TL (Touchless). A version of
smartprojecting, that is able to identify three-dimensional hand gestures of
the user by camera. This allows controlling presentations without a PC mouse
or remote control. Prolight+Sound: Hall 9, booth 44c More: http://www.vioso.com 8) WolfVision: Ceiling Visualizers VZ-C12³ and VZ-C32³
More: http://www.wolfvision.com 9) Conrac: New innovative solutions at Screen Expo Europe
The
latest generation of flat screens for digital signage is mainly characterised
by the almost frameless design. A bezel width of less than 15mm, the high
resolution and excellent image quality makes the Narrow Bezel series the
ideal displays for cluster solutions. Conrac’s video electronics supports
cluster solutions of up to 4 by 4 displays without the need for additional
hardware. Using 47“ displays, this results in a size of 4,30m x 2,48m. The
integrated „Master Display“ function allows to control all other displays
simultaneously via a RS232 port. CONRAC introduces a brand-new Public Display
series with a highly innovative cooling concept lowering the temperature and
enhancing the display lifetime. The intelligent system works in two cycles,
an open loop and a closed loop. The cooling system is very energy efficient
and maintenance-free, hence reducing the cost of ownership. Not an entirely
new idea, but realised using a new technology, are touch solutions for public
areas. To be tested at the booth is a 40” outdoor display (IP54) with
“acoustic touch”. Screen
Media Expo Europe 2009: booth F01 More: http://www.conrac.de 10) SCREEN-NT: 84“ Outdoor City Light Poster
The
German Digital Signage and Sunlight LCD specialist SCREEN NT has developed
and installed a 84” OUTDOOR SUNLIGHT LC DISPLAY for bus stops in City Light
poster format. The digital future of bus stops has thus become reality, with
SCREENs prototype display making it possible to send time and location
specific information and advertising to awaiting bus passengers. Since the
weatherproof housing is fitted with full air-conditioning and heating, enabling
it to operate in extreme temperatures, even Germany’s record-breaking cold
front in January 09 proved no problem for the giant display. And of course
SCREEN’s proprietary SUNLIGHT technology ensures maximum readability in
direct sunlight conditions. Screen

With the
new EYE-LCD4600M/W-SN, eyevis presents the latest generation of its LCD
modules for video wall applications. The outstanding feature of the new
displays is their super-slim bezel which allows composition of modular video
walls with a gap from screen to screen of only 7.3 mm. The new displays have
a screen diagonal of 46“ (116 cm) and native WXGA resolution (1366x768
Pixel). The internal scaler allows ‘tiled‘ video walls up to a configuration
of 10x10 displays. Like the preceding versions of eyevis EYE-LCD M/W series,
the new EYE-LCD4600M/W-SN provides numerous features which make them a first
choice for LCD video walls. The M-version of the displays includes a stacking
frame which allows fast and simple mounting of video walls or the
installation in display racks. eyevis provides a range of installation
possibilities for the displays from the EYE-LCDM/W-SN series, including
customisable racks, wall mounts, and further installation options. As a
provider of complete one-stop large screen solutions, eyevis provides also

Kramer is
pleased to announce the introduction of the VA-1VGA computer graphics EDID
emulator. Part of the Kramer TOOLS line of compact solution products, the
VA-1VGA will capture and emulate the EDID data of a display. EDID (Extended
Display Identification Data) is a data-structure consisting of 128 pieces of
information that a display provides to the graphics card of a connected
computer source to describe its capabilities so that the source can output
the best possible signal for that display. The EDID information is conveyed
between the source and the display via a standard known as the Display Data
Channel 2 (DDC2) utilizing pins 12 and 15 of a standard 15-pin HD computer
graphics video signal connector. Kramer’s VA-1VGA ensures that if a display
is turned off, temporarily disconnected or for any reason unable to be seen
by the source, the source will still output the best possible signal
resolution. The VA-1VGA will “trick” the source into thinking the display is
still directly connected even when the EDID information is unavailable. The
Kramer VA-1VGA has begun shipping and is available through Kramer offices
worldwide. Prolight+Sound: Hall 8.0, booth K61 NAB
2009 - April 20 to 23 - Las Vegas, Nevada - USA, Booth # SL-6205A More: http://www.kramerelectronics.com 20) Extron: CVC 300 Component Video to
RGB Converter Now Shipping
Extron Electronics is pleased to

city of Utrecht, with subsidiary companies based in Belgium, Germany, France
and Romania. It selected the 1U rackmount DN-C620 for use in its digital
audio hire rigs for live sound, corporate event, theatre and television production
applications. More: http://www.dm-pro.eu 22) TOA: Type H series is compact, highly intelligible, and easy to set up
TOA
Europe has unveiled the Type H – an all-new series of line arrays designed to
fit into the smallest of gaps, the most demanding of interior designs, the
most reflective of environments, as well as the tightest of project budgets.
There are four models in the Type H range, each based on the same 7cm
full-range drive unit. The SR-H2L uses nine of these drivers, while the
taller SR-H3L uses 18. Both are also available (as the SR-H2S and SR-H3S
respectively) with a front that curves downwards towards its bottom edge,
rather than a flat front, for applications where listeners closer to the
speakers are also lower than those behind them – an auditorium with a floor
that slopes down toward the stage, for example. Finished in white, all four
models measure just 84mm across – making them TOA’s slimmest-ever line array
and ensuring that they remain visually unobtrusive in any application. Using
the flat-front variants, two arrays can be coupled together for coverage of
particularly large areas, while a range of purpose-designed mounts and
brackets enables the enclosures to be wall-mounted, tilted, rigged, flown, or
free-standing. Prolight+Sound: hall 8.0, booth A16 More: http://www.toa-corp.co.uk 23) RGB: MediaWall offers KvM option for Linux Processors
RGB
Spectrum announces Linux computer support for its Integrated Control System with
KvM for the MediaWall line of video wall display processors. A "Remote
Desktop Agent" (RDA) enables the control of Linux computers displayed on
the video wall. Unlike traditional KVM (keyboard-video-mouse) control over IP
or Cat5, RGB Spectrum offers a hybrid solution, with video provided by
direct-connect (DVI or RGB) to the display controller to guarantee real-time
performance. Remote keyboard and mouse functions are over IP. There is no
strain on the network since bandwidth requirements are minimal. The result is
a unified display space where an operator can control the display as well as
the source with a single mouse. The computers and the video wall processor
are interconnected over an IP network. A custom keyboard/mouse agent, a.k.a.
Remote Desktop Agent, is installed on each of the source computers. At the
heart of the solution is RGB Spectrum's Web Control Panel (WCP), the
intuitive set-up and control application used to operate the MediaWall
display processor. The KvM option currently supports Microsoft Windows 2000
and XP computers. The new Linux RDA currently supports Red Hat 5.1 with GNOME
2.6. with GUI installed. Other versions of Linux will be added as they are
tested. More: http://www.rgb.com 24) Futuresource: Interactive Whiteboard market – No real signs of
recession
Close to
600,000 Interactive Whiteboards were sold worldwide last year, generating
nearly US$1bn of revenue, according to a new market report from Futuresource
Consulting. “Across the globe, the Interactive Whiteboard phenomenon is
really taking hold,” says Colin Messenger, Senior Consultant, Futuresource.
“Driven by continued technological developments, our projections show that
one in six classrooms will be hooked up with an Interactive Whiteboard by
2012. It’s remarkable to see how this technology allows teachers to connect
with students in much greater depth, bringing the outside world into the
classroom and transforming lessons into exciting world experiences. You’ve
got to see the technology in action to fully appreciate the impact it has on
the learning process.” In the 66 countries covered within the report,
Messenger calculates there are over 31 million classrooms: a huge market
potential for companies operating within this sector. A whistle-stop tour of
activity in 2008, shows that the USA had a hugely successful year, with sales
volumes surpassing 250,000 units, up 65% on volume and over 100% in value. In
the UK, demand is still strong and will continue to be sustained, with a
swell of activity awaiting EMEA. Looking to Australia, Q4 2008 proved to be
its largest success to date. More: http://www.futuresource-consulting.com 25) SMART: Agreement with Zollner to increase global production
SMART
Technologies announces an agreement with the Zollner Group to assemble SMART
Board interactive whiteboards for customers in Europe, the Middle East and
Africa (EMEA). The Zollner Group, one of the world’s leading contract
manufacturers, will assemble the interactive whiteboards at its facility in
Vác, Hungary. Initially, it will have the capacity to produce more than
125,000 SMART Board 600 series interactive whiteboards per year,
significantly increasing SMART’s annual global production. With SMART Board
interactive whiteboards assembled at the Hungary facility, service to SMART’s
EMEA customers will improve. Currently, all SMART Board 600 series
interactive whiteboards are assembled and shipped from SMART’s main plant in
Ottawa, Canada. Hungarian assembly will also decrease SMART’s reliance on
transatlantic shipping, thereby reducing the company’s carbon footprint. The
decision to assemble SMART Board interactive whiteboards at the Vác, Hungary,
facility comes amid continued strong sales for SMART in EMEA. More: http://www.smarttech.com 26) Draper Group Limited opens offices
in UK
Draper, Inc. and Bjurab have
announced the joint formation of Draper Group Limited. Draper Group Limited
is centrally located in Corby, Northamptonshire, with a sales office,
warehouse and training facility serving distributors, dealers/resellers, AV
consultants, architects and end-users throughout the UK. “We already have a
finished goods inventory, which is a real benefit for the UK market,”
according to Wakeley Gage, who as Operations Manager oversees the six-person
sales, logistics and customer service operation in Corby, within minutes of
the M1 and A1. “This means most popular products and models are available for
immediate shipment without the need to pay for air freight across the
Atlantic or Europe.” In addition to on-hand stock, the location in Corby
means customers do not need to plan their dealings with Draper Group Limited
around a four or five hour time difference with a U.S.-based headquarters.
Wakeley believes this allows Draper Group Limited to better bring Draper’s
focus on customer satisfaction to the UK. More: http://www.drapergroupltd.co.uk 27) Electrosonic: Major changes to its
Products Division
Electrosonic has announced major
changes to its Products division which now operates as a fully separate
