2)      Optoma Introduces EP910 SXGA+ Projector

Optoma introduces the EP910, an ultra-high performance HD Ready digital projector. The

native SXGA+ resolution (1400 x 1050) reveals the minutiae of highly detailed data images such as CAD, spreadsheets or simulations as well as stunning High Definition video. With its near silent operation (28dB), it fits perfectly into any office that demands the best in industrial design and high-quality digital projection. High brightness (3500 ANSI lumens) allows larger, more impressive pictures in meeting rooms, lecture theatres and other public places where ambient light would otherwise wash out the colour. High contrast (3000:1) comes courtesy of DarkChip3™ DLP™ technology, this ensures that saturated colours stay pure. The Optoma EP910 incorporates a secure network management capability, with a web-based user-interface that allows the projector to be managed remotely. All EP910’s in the network can be managed through a web browser, which allows configuration of the settings and interrogation of the projector’s status. A comprehensive RS232 instruction set is provided for more traditional AV installations.

3)      Panasonic: New projectors in the PT-LB series at the CeBIT

The preceding models already allowed users to take advantage of a high speed transmission. However, the new Panasonic projectors PT-LB50NTE, PT-LB55NTE and PT-LB60NTE even top it and boost the transmission speed from the PC to the projector by five times. During a transmission, all data is encoded meeting latest standards. These projectors are able to transmit data so quickly that even comprehensive PowerPoint® presentations including film sequences can be projected without difficulty. The new „Wireless Manager ME 3.0“ software enables this speedy transmission. In order to protect data from unauthorized access, the projectors are not only supported by the WEB 128bit standard but also by the additional, innovative WPA security standard. The Wireless Manager can be saved on a mobile memory device (SD card, USB stick, CD-ROM etc) and needs not to be installed on the PC increasing flexibility and mobility. An additional innovation is the Wireless Prompter that activates a desktop extension at the push of a button. This function allows simultaneous wireless transmission of a presentation to the projector and the presentation of additional content on the laptop e.g. the presentation manuscript. The new projectors may appear small from the outside but they offer surprisingly extraordinary brightness: The PT-LB50NTE consists of 2000 ANSI lumens, the PT-LB55NTE has 2500 ANSI lumens and the PT-LB60NTE is characterized by powerful 3200 ANSI lumens. The XGA-resolution guarantees pin-sharp images. Despite of their power, the projectors weigh only 1.9 kg (PT-LB50NTE) and are extremely compact featuring 57 mm height (PT-LB50NTE) which makes them fit into any briefcase. The mobile use is further supported by various handy features such as 2 seconds quick start, full-automatic vertical keystone correction and direct power-off protecting the lamp. The projectors in the PT-LB series are equipped with the novel Daylight-View 2 providing additional power resources.

4)      SANYO: High-Performance PLC-XF46 Projector

The new SANYO PLC-XF46 projector is a powerhouse. Its enormous brightness of 12,000 ANSI lumens exceeds all expectations. Equipped with a powerful contrast ratio of 1000:1, the PLC-XF46 meets even highest demands. The new SANYO projector targets especially rental companies and event firms. Naturally, the projector is equally suitable for applications in large conference rooms or lecture halls. A reliable partner for any kind of large venue events, this projector uses the Real Colour Management software which is included in delivery. Especially when using multiple projectors this software guarantees a true colour representation. The manual calibration of colour representation is remarkably easy. The configuration can then be saved and used again as often as desired. SANYO’s multi-lamp system guarantees a successful event and the lens shift allows for high flexibility. Thanks to lens shift the projector’s position can be changed both vertically and horizontally. The decision to use the PLC-XF46 should be easy for rental firms and event experts, especially when considering the broad choice of lenses – 11 interchangeable lenses are available. The lenses guarantee pin-sharp images from any distance whether from an extremely wide angle (as in rear-projections) or from an extreme tele-zoom (as in big screen). The SANYO high performance projector consists of eight optional connection boards apart from the common video- and computer inputs.

25)  ProCon: New innovative IP control

ProCon Technology has launched an innovative IP control unit designed to make life easier for AV managers who need to manage multiple installations. The ProCon IP unit and Site Manager software allows AV managers to manage, monitor and communicate with AV installations across a network. This means they can see exactly what the state of play is of a projector or plasma screen, at any time, in any room – without leaving the office. According to Chris Kendall, Managing Director of ProCon Technology, the IP panel gives huge benefits to IT and AV managers in any situation where they are managing multiple installations. “Imagine the logistical challenges of keeping track of numerous AV installations over a large number of sites – equipment gets left on, which results in burn in on plasmas or short lamp life on projectors, or units go down and are only discovered when a user comes to make a presentation. Our product removes these types of frustrations, and gives the users more confidence in the systems they are using. And of course, there’s a huge cost saving for the IT budget by extending projector lamp life and preventing plasma burn in by allowing you to remotely switch off devices. Our product also helps managers plan maintenance and servicing schedules by recording equipment usage and time between servicing”. The IP control panel and Site Manager software is compatible with any brand of AV equipment, it can easily be retro fitted to existing installations, regardless of what equipment is present.

28)  Koelnmesse: Lifestyle media at photokina

Regardless of whether you are watching vacation pictures on TV, happily viewing your grandchild’s first tentative steps on screen, enjoying the latest Hollywood production from your home cinema’s media server, or make a security check of your home from all over the world via internet: Images are always the focal point of multi-media networks in the home. That’s why Koelnmesse will offer exhibitors and visitors at photokina 2006 a user- and trade visitor-oriented platform for presenting practical solutions suitable for everyday use in the integration of information, communication and entertainment technologies. Titled “lifestyle media at photokina”, this new platform will focus on utility and comprehensive system solutions and applications. At the same time, it will reveal how these solutions can implement professionally and efficiently. Lifestyle Media at photokina is divided into the three areas of entertainment, communication, and information, and images are always at the heart of the solutions. The new platform will be located in the “Audiovisual Presentation and communication Technology” in the new Hall 9. A clear advantage of the new presentation platform is that it offers exhibitors the opportunity to present their products and services without limiting themselves to any particular component or sector. In addition, it gives end consumers, who are expressing increased interest in “prosumer” products and systems, an extensive insight into the various ways the system can be used. The end consumer, in turn, will realize that the oft-mentioned multimedia environment of the future can already be a reality today at home. photokina, from 26 September to 1 October 2006

29)  CeBIT: Excellent Attendance Despite Inclement Weather

CeBIT 2006 surpassed exhibitor expectations by a wider margin than ever before in the 20-year history of the event. The buoyant mood triggered by favourable industry forecasts during the run-up to the show continued to brighten as CeBIT progressed, culminating in many million-dollar deals. After years of holding back, all signs pointed to small and medium-sized businesses being back on the investment track. The show's 6,262 exhibitors, including over 3,300 from abroad, reported having closed about 20 percent more deals than last year - a fitting "birthday present" to the CeBIT community during the event's 20th anniversary. With excellent attendance figures of around 450,000 visitors, unrivalled international appeal for an ICT event - with around one-third of all visitors coming from abroad - and an extremely high rate of professional attendance (around 85 percent of all attendees), CeBIT has clearly lived up to its reputation as the key B2B platform for the entire ICT industry. The CeBIT motto "Join the vision" found a strong echo in the form of bustling activity in all 24 exhibition halls.
