The exhibitors of Prolight + Sound will be showing how audio, lighting and stage technology and integrated modern communication technologies can be used to turn events into worlds of experience and entertainment at Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre from 6 to 9 April 2005. Around 700 companies from 37 countries have already registered for the International Trade Fair for Event and Communication Technology, Audiovisual Production and Entertainment. With its broad range of mobile audio technology and fixed studio equipment, as well as the link to the world of lighting, stage and effect technology, Prolight + Sound has made a name for itself as the sector's leading meeting place worldwide. A new subject that has emerged from the range of topics covered at the Congress for Audiovisual Installation Systems - CAVIS - Congress since 2004 is media technology and systems integration. "The sector is rounding off its spectrum of products and services with a fast-growing and innovative field that, this year, will be represented by a good 60 companies in Hall 8", says Jürgen Kupczik, Director Prolight + Sound. Here, visitors will find not only high-resolution data and video projection systems for conferences but also display systems for special and all-round projections in public areas, i.e., museums, company headquarters and more.

2)      IC: in-depth analysis for the projector market

DLP vs. LCD: Which technology will prevail? According to a new InterConnection (IC) study more than 265,000 multimedia projectors were sold in the third quarter 2004 in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa). In the entire year 2004, for the first time more than 1 million sold projectors were counted. That is an increase of 28.3% in comparison to the previous year. And the forecasts reveal that this trend will continue over the next years. Hence, manufacturers now need to decide which technology will fit best in their portfolio because each segment poses a challenge of its own. But, which segment is the strongest and which technology will prove best? The IC-Market Tracking® Multimedia Projectors in EMEA is a detailed market and branch analysis of the projectors market. It contains market figures in value and quantity for the years 2002-2004, development predictions until 2007, as well as detailed sales figures and market shares of the Top manufacturers in Europe. The study is now available from the InterConnection Consulting Group.

4)      NEC: projectors with integrated whiteboard function

The NEC WT615 projector breaks ahead by offering a trail-blazing feature. The WT615 is NEC’s innovative projector model with an integrated whiteboard function. With eBeam hardware and software, the user has the unique opportunity of making notes on presentations directly on the projection surface. Users can write live onto projected charts using an electronic pen. At the end of the meeting, this information can be stored on a PC-card in the projector or on the presentation on the PC. Furthermore, the WT610 is succeeding the WT600 offering improved brightness and contrast ratio. A short projection distance allows for positioning the WT projectors in a distance of a mere 6.4cm from the projection surface. Both devices from the WT series are suitable for HDTV applications and thanks to a high contrast ratio enable pin sharp pictures – no matter if used for projections or at POS/POI.

5)      Toshiba PDT: MT700 projector

Toshiba PDT presents the MT700, a real treat for home cinema fans. With full 1280x720 pixel native resolution, the MT700 delivers detail-rich images in natural colour and 16:9 format, and also offers an array of interfaces for a wide variety of applications. The task of converting interlaced images into progressive images is child’s play for the MT700’s pro boothard deinterlacer: the MT700 is using a Faroudja chip producing high-resolution progressive scan images that are smooth and free from “jaggies”. Colour fidelity is assured by the ultra-rapid 6-segment colour wheel. In addition, the MT700 offers a high contrast ratio of 2,500:1 and extra-quiet 28dB operating noise in boothard mode, to blend unobtrusively with any soundtrack. The success of a home cinema performance is assisted by the backlite remote control unit, enabling the “projectionist” to manage the performance perfectly even in darkened rooms.
