Dear newsletter readers!

This issue of www.AVP-Newsletter.com presents you with latest news from the data- and video projection / presentation.

1)      CeBIT 2006: From March 9th to 15th in Hanover, Germany

The CeBIT success story continues unabated. This unique showcase will cover the entire digital universe at a single location - in Hanover, Germany, from March 9th to 15th, 2006. But CeBIT is much more than just a shop window for new products. Knowledge transfer and networking also play an increasingly important role. With around 30 special presentations and 800 individual lectures, CeBIT is a leading platform for know-how transfer and community building. Furthermore, an international appeal is evident on the exhibitor side. Organizers Deutsche Messe AG is expecting nearly 6,300 exhibitors from some 70 countries. Something like 3,300 of these firms have registered direct from abroad. Their numbers are swelled by the many international concerns which will be represented at the show by their German branch companies. The main growth area for exhibitor registrations is in Asia, with China, Hong Kong and South Korea all represented much more strongly in 2006. The upcoming CeBIT is expected to attract over 1,700 exhibitors from the Asian-Pacific region. It is also gratifying to note the continuing interest from firms in the growth regions of Eastern and Central Europe. With over 200 exhibiting firms in 2006 the level of participation remains virtually unchanged.

2)      ISCO: Dome projection was the eye-catcher

The 120 degree fisheye dome projection lens was definitely the eye-catcher at the ISCO booth at ISE in Brussels and inspired the imagination of the visitors. As an example for stunning projections into a hemisphere of various sizes ISCO showed images from the underwater world with the 120 degree lens in a rear projection installation. The amazingly high quality image of the projection into a half dome grabbed the attention of the visitors. Furthermore the streamlined range of LCD projection lenses, tele & wide angle attachments for LCD/DLP or LCOS or D-ILA projectors and the wide range of anamorphic lenses for various applications were demonstrated to the interested visitors. The new anamorphic attachment with the factor 1,77 launched on ISE is going to be available in the first quarter of 2006. 3)      projectiondesign: Successful at the ISE

projectiondesign can look back on a successful trade show appearance at this year’s ISE. The newcomers (founded in 2002) could not be overlooked since their new booth design and a larger exhibiting space attracted the visitors’ attention. The first single chip DLP projector featuring a 1080 chip by Texas Instruments was the highlight on the booth. In the business class, the Norwegian firm has enhanced their broad portfolio by another top product, the evo2sx+. The cooperation with renown companies operating in the 3D business such as CYVIZ proves the path that company founder Jörn Ericsson has chosen to go is right, namely above all manufacturing high-quality and high-resolution projectors.

5)      Toshiba PDT: Two New Super Close Projection Models

Toshiba Projection & Display Technology (PDT) presents two new „Super Close Projection“ models: the ET10 and the ET20. Entirely new developed, these devices are very suitable for short projection distances due to an integrated wide angle lens. At a distance of just half a meter the projector projects a picture size of 1.30 m. Thanks to special technology the devices deliver pin sharp, crystal clear images even in small rooms. A resolution of 854 x 480 pixels and a high contrast ratio of 2000:1 guarantee high quality and rich-in-detail 16:9 movie experiences. An extraordinary housing design – realized by industrial designer firm Pininfarina – already suggests the innovative concept. These short-distance projectors are also ideal to be used with game consoles. The visual experience is complemented by excellent audio quality realized by the appending Dolby Pro Logic 5.1 surround sound systems. The ET20 is additionally equipped with an integrated DVD player. Both home cinema projectors based on Toshiba’s proprietary SCP technology (Super Close Projection) can already be used at a projection distance as close as 0.20 m. At this minimum distance, the picture diagonal is 0.65 m. At a maximum distance of 1.60 m, the picture is enlarged to 2.90 m. With these two SCP projectors, Toshiba realized a space saving concept that is also suitable for presentations in retail. The ET10 and the ET20 will be available in April 2006 in distribution and from selected dealers. CeBIT: Hall 1, Booth L61
