3) Fujitsu: new plasma-models - P42HHS/P42VHA

Fujitsu General, who is the inventor of the plasma display technology, introduces two new model lines of the PLASMAVISION plasma displays – one for commercial operations and one for the home cinema area. The new PLASMAVISION models are all provided with the prize winning and well proved AVM technology, which guarantees perfect picture quality. AVM stands for Advanced Video Movement – all sources of disturbance are eliminated via digital signal processing. The digital video signal processor ensures a constantly perfect picture quality – no matter which source signal is connected to the display. One of the new models is the P42HHS which has a brightness of 1000 cd/m², a contrast ratio of 1000:1 and is provided with component video inputs, scart sockets, s-video and digital inputs (DVI-D) for video or audio sources and for PCs. Another new plasma display is the P42VHA which has a contrast ratio of 3000:1, a brightness of 700 cd/m² and is the first display of its class that does not need a ventilator.

4) PLUS U2: The next generation in business projectors

PLUS Vision Corp. will launch its new multi-business projectors. The U2 Series offers better than twice the contrast ratio of its predecessor, as well as enhanced presentation support. Two models will be offered: the real XGA U2-1200, and the real SVGA U2-817.The U2-1200 is a successor to the U2-X2000, the high-brightness projector delivering 2000 ANSI lumens (U2-817: 1500 ANSI lumens) in a light, roughly 2.5-kg package. While maintaining the same weight and brightness, the U2-1200 represents a giant leap in overall screen visibility using Texas Instruments' next-generation DMD chip to more than double the contrast ratio of its predecessor to 1500:1. The projectors are also packed with new and enhanced presentation-support features, e.g. the presentation timer is perfect for time management. These features and more are expanding the possibilities of the presentation format.

15) HP/stethos: Mobile solutions for HP projectors

HP is going to put the main emphasis for their projectors xb31, sb21 and the well established Compaq-projectors on the subject “wireless”. At the booth 4H2 in hall 1 HP presents the wireless JetCAPS AirProjector. The additional device for projectors, which has been developed by HP and JetCAPS, is a mobile solution to quickly integrate digital projectors into a network. Thus several notebooks and PCs can be used via a wireless-LAN network. The AirProjector is the data central station and the mediator between projector and PC. The JetCAPS AirProjector is compatible to all Windows-PCs which are equipped with a Wireless-LAN-interface (IEEE802.11b). As soon as the presentation is called up on the PC, the Client-Software registers picture data and information. Data is compressed and transmitted to the JetCAPS AirProjector which sends it to the projector. The in the IEEE 802.11b-standard included 64 or 128 Bit Wired Equivalent Privacy encryption (WEP) protects internal data and prevents a disturbance of the presentation via other wireless applications within the network.

19) IC: Opinion poll concerning the dealers satisfaction

The sales channels in Europe show some interesting and surprising results in the soft facts as for example the dealers satisfaction beside the regional differences. This arose from a current inquiry of 250 dealers made by the consultancy InterConnection Consulting. The four most important factors for dealers and distributors are almost at the same importance product quality, margin, delivery time and the area guarantee/service. During the analysis it appears that the product quality can fulfil soonest the expectations of the distributions partner. The appraisal of the specific trademarks is astonishing: Plus dominates in three import categories (technical quality, guarantee/service and delivery time) with best marks while a well-known brand like Sony is always on one of the last three places in these areas. 3M impresses trough marketing support and dominates in the category Lead Generation. In the category Sales Support four brands are at the top: Sharp, EIKI, ASK/Proxima and Panasonic. Particularly interesting is the satisfaction with the margin politic where 3M asserts itself in the front clearly before Hitachi while Plus is at the last place in this category. The panel of 400 sides is available by InterConnection for € 5.900,-.

The business area “professional visual products” of Toshiba Europe GmbH presents six new data- und video projectors of its „performance class“ T720/721, T620/621 and T520/521. The follow-up models of the successful T-series that were introduced in fall 2002 distinguish themselves by a very strong light performance. The models T720/721 and T620/621 feature 2.400 ANSI lumens thanks to the micro-lens-array technology (MLA). The T520 and the T521 feature 1.800 ANSI lumens. Moreover, the on-screen-display was improved. Wireless presentations are no problem for the T720, T721, T520 and T521 devices because of the wireless LAN technology. In the scope of supply of those four projectors e necessary WLAN software is included. The T720 and the T721 are immediately ready for the wireless use. 22) WolfVision: Ceiling Visualizer for conference rooms

Conference room architects and planners have been waiting for a unit like WolfVision's Ceiling Visualizer VZ-C10 for many years. The new Ceiling Visualizer allows for the first time to build a stylish conference room with all technical equipment invisible for the audience. The Ceiling Visualizer can be built into a suspended ceiling or mounted on the ceiling like a projector. Even before the unit was deliverable 12 companies in USA, Austria, Sweden and Norway decided to redesign their conference rooms, which had already been under construction, in order to integrate the VZ-C10. The Austrian company Magna, Steyr, even urged WolfVision to deliver an early pre-series unit, and Magna adapted their conference room to the VZ-C10 literally in the last minute before the opening ceremony. More and more architects around the world get enthusiastic about the possibility to hide the Visualizer in a ceiling - invisible for the audience. WolfVision expects a big boom of this new technology this year.

In addition to the interchangeable lenses like the ET-LE050, ET-LE101, ET-LE200 and ET-LE300 another interchangeable lens is now available in the scope of supply of the EL-models, the ET-LE150. This is very interesting because the EL models are always delivered without any lenses. The new 6510 models are available from beginning of March and will also be presented at the CeBIT:

The great product variety is also expected for the home cinema market. The range of new hardware products is also very broad – from the smallest screen and a LCD TV to Plasma-screens with a size of over 1,50 m and high-performance projection devices. The subject matter Home Cinema wins significance also in the High End field whereby the cross-linking makes great progresses – some parts are wireless and work via radio.

32) NEC: new projectors with automatic trapezoidal correction

Simply present: with the projectors VT460 (SVGA, 1500 ANSI lumens), VT560 (XGA, 1300 ANSI lumens) and VT660 (XGA, 1700 ANSI lumens) NEC introduces for the first time three models with integrated gravitation sensor. This sensor makes sure that the projector - after the setting-up operation - automatically positions a rectangular image on the screen without the help of the user. Presentations and video performances will be extremely easy to handle with this operating concept, even for technical laypersons. The multimedia projectors are perfectly suited for companies, educational institutions and for the home office-application because of their performance features. The new models feature three separate inputs for RGB, S-Video and Video. The projectors have a zoom lens (projection ratio 1,5 – 1,77:1) with an extremely short focal length so that also great images are projectable in small rooms with short distances.
