8) Mitsubishi Electric: Large-screen OLED at ISE 2010
Mitsubishi
Electric has confirmed that it will show a 149" prototype OLED screen at
ISE 2010. OLED screens create light by a process of electro-luminescence
(EL). Each pixel consists of an anode and cathode separated by a thin organic
membrane. Its simple construction means that the screen surface can be made
extremely light and thin. Using specially-developed driver electronics,
Mitsubishi Electric has created an edge-less OLED display module that can be
joined together with others to create seamless screens of virtually any size
and shape, including curves. The company believes this modular approach will
deliver the versatility required of the next generation of indoor Digital
Signage displays. At ISE, Mitsubishi will demonstrate a 1920mm x 3264mm OLED
display. A screen resolution of 1088 pixels x 640 pixels at 3mm pixel pitch
delivers sharp, vibrant images, viewable even at close range. The company
will also be revealing a new LED-based projection engine for its Seventy
Series display wall cubes, the L46XM, featuring a high-quality 46"
diagonal WXGA (1366 x 768 pixel) LCD display with a total mullion width of
7.3mm, and a new Multi-Touch interface option for its Seventy Series display
wall systems that enables multiple users to interact with a display wall
simultaneously.

9) CONRAC: The latest generation of Narrow Bezel Displays
Whether
for the countless applications in retail and advertising, for shop-windows,
videoconferencing or control rooms, whether used stand-alone or in clusters,
the sleek design and superior performance of the displays are certainly
convincing. The slim bezel design makes the displays ideally suited for
cluster solutions and video walls. An application long waited for can now be
realized: Display walls using large flat screens with near to no disturbing
frame in between. For quick and easy mounting, the displays are VESA
compatible. To seize the compatibility with any digital signage software on
the market, there are various different electronic options to be chosen from.
A pioneering new feature has been added to CONRAC’s Narrow Bezel Displays. Especially
for displays installed in large networks “Display Performance Monitoring”
(cDPM) is a key feature. Despite the almost frameless design a special sensor
has been integrated in the front bezel. This sensor continuously monitors the
TFT panel’s function (backlight, inverter, power supply and interface). Any
malfunction is immediately detected and reported giving total control over
all screens connected. To ensure optimal contrast ratio, excellent image
performance and colour saturation as well as superior legibility from all
angles even in sunny spots, CONRAC’s Narrow Bezel Displays are available with
sunlight readable panels.

15) Kramer: HD-SDI to HDMI format converter with dual outputs
Kramer
Electronics has released the FC-332 3G HD-SDI to HDMI format converter with
dual outputs. The unit converts an incoming SDI video and audio signal to two
HDMI output signals with the same resolution and frame rate. Prior to the
introduction of the FC-332, users would require both an SDI to HDMI format
converter and an HDMI DA if an application required the converted signal be
sent to two HDMI destinations. The FC-332 accepts a multi-standard SDI
signal, either SDI (SMPTE 259M and SMPTE 344M), HD-SDI (SMPTE 292M) or 3G
HD-SDI (SMPTE 424M) on a BNC connector and converts the video and audio
signal into two HDMI signal outputs via HDMI connectors. It also has a
looping input on a BNC connector so the original SDI signal can be
simultaneously sent to a second destination in its original format. The
FC-332 is HDTV compatible and comes in a compact Kramer DigiTOOLS enclosure
with active input and output LED indicators. ISE:

16) Crestron: Invisible HDMI Retrofit Installation Solution
Today's home
entertainment systems include HDMI sources, but distributing or transmitting
HDMI long distance is a challenge for integrators. No one wants to rip open
walls to run CAT5, and 1080p content can't be transmitted long distances or
distributed wirelessly. Crestron offers a perfect solution to add digital HD
sources to retrofit projects. The Crestron HDMI-over-fibre extender sends
uncompressed HDMI and IR/RS-232 control signals up to 300 metres over a
single multimode fibre connection. Transparent CresFiber looks just like
fishing line, so it's virtually invisible when run along baseboards and
around mouldings, leaving a perfectly clean installation. Simply add a
Crestron HD-MD8X2 HDMI QuickSwitch HD switcher to distribute Blu-ray players,
video games, HD cable and satellite receivers to two rooms. ISE: booth 1F10, 1A100, 1F2

20) SonicShock: The SonicShock life at
the ISE2010
Sonic Shock is the world's most
popular device for deterring theft of big screen and flat screen televisions,
LCD projectors, and computers. It works just like a car alarm, for each one
of those a thief takes, he has to take the sounding alarm with them. Shock’s
siren is triggered by cutting or unplugging an electronically monitored
tether. There’s no motion trigger. Once tripped, the siren sounds over an
hour. Built specifically for use in commercial settings, Shock is simple,
reliable, and tough. Its metal parts are 1/16th inch stainless steel. Its
battery will probably outlast the equipment. It is reusable. Its lock cores
can be replaced. 3 types of Sonic Shock family will be displayed: Sonic Shock
4 - the standard solution, Sonic Shock Plasma - for large TV screens, Sonic
Shock X - the new extreme Sonic Shock, World Premiere.

25) TOA Europe: Network audio solution for Frankfurt’s OpernTurm
TOA Europe is celebrating a huge new audio
network installation comprising TOA VM-3000 Series PA/VA systems, SX-2000
audio management systems and loudspeakers, in Frankfurt, Germany. Due to open later this year, the
OpernTurm (literally ‘Opera Tower’) is the latest addition to Frankfurt’s celebrated skyline. Comprising
a 170m high-rise building and a 26m low-rise perimeter development, OpernTurm
derives its name from Frankfurt’s historic opera house, the Alte Oper, which faces it across
Opernplatz. Designed by Frankfurt-based architect Christoph Mäckler,
OpernTurm is the latest development by Tishman Speyer Properties, whose last
major investment in Frankfurt was the OperaTurm – the 257m-high ‘giant
pencil’ that has stood at the entrance to Messe Frankfurt since 1991 and is
known to tens of thousands of tradeshow-goers from all over the world. Though
not as high as OperaTurm, which became Europe’s tallest building when
completed, OpernTurm has already become a landmark building for other
reasons. It is one of the first new office buildings in Europe to be
certified according to Gold rated LEED (Leadership in Energy and
Environmental Design) green construction standards, and has been designed to
consume 23% less energy than the guideline stipulated by EnEV 2007 –
Germany’s latest set of energy-saving regulations. To help achieve these
results, OpernTurm uses a sophisticated BMS (Building Management System)
based on LONworks protocols, under which all IT and related technical
hardware is equipped with a standard chip, allowing intercommunication
between any two pieces of equipment at any point on the building’s network.
SPIE delivered a complete fire alarm, voice evacuation and paging backbone
for the project. SPIE in turn partnered with Hellwig Tonanlagen, based in
nearby Bensheim, to design and install the audio elements of the system,
using TOA SX-2000 and VM-3000 audio management systems as hubs. “In total
there are some 13 racks of TOA equipment, including a whopping 78 VM-3000
units and six SX-2000s acting as master controllers, and over 3,000 TOA
loudspeakers,” reveals Torsten Hellwig, managing director, Hellwig
Tonanlagen. “The scale of the project is enormous – with 42 floors of offices
in the main tower and a further seven in the low-rise section, plus a
conference centre, a casino and other leisure facilities, not to mention a
series of themed gardens which connect the buildings together. With their
ability to distribute multiple channels of audio digitally, plus their
inherent scalability and flexibility, TOA products are the obvious solution
in a project such as OpernTurm.” Work began on the construction of OperaTurm
in late 2006 and the building opened in late 2009.
