1)      ISE 2006: Over 270 exhibitors registered for ISE 2006

The third edition of Integrated Systems Europe will be held from February 1 – 3 in the Brussels Expo. Following a busy spell of exhibitor bookings during the last two months, the organisers of ISE 2006, Europe’s biggest trade show for AV Systems Integrators, report that the event next February in Brussels will be twice the size of the 2005 show and is almost sold out. Mike Blackman, Managing Director ISE 2006 is delighted, but not surprised by these figures. “The AV Systems Integration market continues to grow at an increasing rate, the outlook for new business is buoyant and we have more than justified our decision earlier this year to invest in a substantial increase in floor space at the Brussels Expo to accommodate the increase in bookings.” ISE 2006 will be more than just an exhibition. Visitors who attend will see a number of new displays, a comprehensive conference including a new manufacturer’s forum and a series of spectacular displays in the Brussels Expo. The Residential Solutions Area offers visitors a unique opportunity to see the stunning potential of the Home Theatre and systems integration industry. POPAI will be sponsoring the Digital Signage Pavilion, which will showcase a range of products offering systems integrators innovative ideas on both designing and installing the very latest technology in the industry. ISE also announce the completion of the Conference Program. It will deliver topical information in a non-commercial environment and will be presented by the leading figures in the AV Systems Integration industry. Supported by case studies, supporting workshops and educational sessions, places are starting to fill up quickly. Cleverdis will be running daily sessions at the show. Housed in the ISE Theatre is the new Manufacturers forum where exhibitors have the unique opportunity to give a 45 minute long presentation on new products and innovations. These open sessions are free to attend.

2)      ISCO: New 1,77x Anamorphic video attachment

With the anamorphic factor 1,77x it is possible now to fill a 2.35:1 Cinemascope screen without light loss and loss in resolution with a 4:3 projector (SXGA+ or XGA). Based on the anamorphic lens technology ISCO offers a solution for the optical image conversion without light loss and loss in resolution for the various image formats commonly used in D-Cinema, E-cinema, Home Cinema and Business Applications. The universal attachments with the respective anamorphic factor (1,33x, 1,42x or 1,77x) allow the projection of a 16:9 format, a 1.85:1 Widescreen- or of a 2.35:1 Cinemascope - format with a 4:3 projector or a projection of a Cinemascope 1:2,35 format or a 4:3 format with a 16:9 projector. The anamorphic video attachments can be used with almost all projector types. It is placed on a stand in front of the prime lens of the projector. Instead of being electronically decompressed the projected image of a DVD is optically decompressed. This means that there is no light loss during projection as the complete panel size is used. With the advanced technology of the anamorphic lens, you have no more black bars across the top and bottom of the picture area, lowering the resolution, brightness and contrast of the image on the screen. With an optical image conversion the brilliance and magnificence of the original formats is sustained.

23)  Swiss BARS&CLUBS CHANNEL Runs on Minicom Hardware

Switzerland's screenIMAGE uses Minicom hardware exclusively in its digital signage applications. screenIMAGE (www.screenimage.ch) is one of the largest A/V integrators in Switzerland. The Bars & Clubs Channel system uses Minicom's CAT5 Video Display System (VDS) in the locations to display content to spectators. Content is delivered via TCP/IP to 350'000 customers in 50 Bars and Clubs all over Switzerland each month. Thin CAT5 cable discretely transfers the content in real time, without loss of screen quality, to small VDS remotes, behind the displays. "Our video-over-CAT5 distribution system helps amplify the power of digital advertising, which attracts more attention than static signs, and can increase sales anywhere between 30% and 100%," said Eran Kessel, Minicom's Vice President of Marketing. Christian Brantschen, one of the owners at screenIMAGE noted, "Minicom met all of our audio and video requirements with a high level of service and prices which we were able to pay. Their products met our needs for flexibility, availability, and scalability. Minicom believed in our project since the beginning and supported us even without any existing order with evaluation systems, pre-sales support and local presence." The Bars & Clubs Channel project was so successful that screenIMAGE has since implemented Minicom video distribution solutions in additional digital signage projects.

Additional benefits of a warehouse facility in the European Union include convenient, timely shipments without the difficulty of importing goods from overseas, as well as, a significant savings in freight costs. “Vaddio is dedicated to making it easier for our international partners to do business with us by eliminating common obstacles in working with an overseas supplier such as high freight costs, added import duties and taxes and different time zones or business hours,” states Rob Sheeley, President of Vaddio. “With our ever-expanding international distribution channels and a quickly growing product offering, the timing is right for Vaddio to invest in a European warehouse location.”

27)  ISCO anamorphic lenses demonstrated on Beamertreffen 2005

ISCO demonstrated on 05./06. Nov. 2005 on the 4. German Beamermeeting at Park Inn Hotel in Kaarst /Germany two anamorphic attachments to the interested end-user. With an universal attachment with the respective anamorphic factor (1,33x or 1,42x) numerous home cinema enthusiasts enjoyed an optical image conversion without light loss and loss in resolution from 4:3 to Widescreen (1.85:1) for E-Cinema and for Home Cinema Applications from 16:9 to Cinemascope (2.35:1) format. The subject of optical image conversion and the advanced technology of the anamorphic lenses were further explained in a presentation on both days. The luxury of an absolute real cinema feeling on a 400cm wide Cinemascope (2.35:1) DaVision screen without disturbing black bars across the top and bottom of the picture area, reducing the resolution, brightness and contrast of the image on the screen could also been seen on the Beamermeeting at SIM2. ISCO received an innovation award of the Association for Business Development of the county administration of Göttingen/Germany for the innovation of the anamorphic lens in 2004.

28)  HP: Life-Like Communication with HP’s Halo Collaboration Studios

HP today introduced a first-of-its-kind collaboration studio for simulating face-to-face business meetings across long distances, brought to life in partnership with DreamWorks Animation SKG. The HP Halo Collaboration Studio enables people in different locations to communicate in a vivid, face-to-face environment in real time. Whether across a country or across the world, users are able to see and hear one another's physical and emotional reactions to conversation and information as it is being shared. By giving participants the remarkable sense that they are in the same room, the Halo Collaboration Studio is already transforming the way businesses communicate across the globe. Halo significantly increases team effectiveness, provides faster decision-making capabilities and decreases the need for travel. Unlike any other communication tool on the market today, the HP Halo Collaboration Studio is a precisely designed broadcast studio that contains all the components necessary to enhance business communication. To connect via Halo, organizations purchase at least two Halo rooms set up for six people each. There are three plasma displays in each room that enable participants to see those they are collaborating with in life-size images. The rooms come equipped with studio-quality audio and lighting and participants use a simple on-screen user interface to begin collaborating with just a few mouse clicks. An intricate software control system ensures Halo rooms work easily and seamlessly together. The control system also provides precise image and colour calibration, so participants see each other as they appear in real life. A dedicated HP Halo Video Exchange Network provides a high-bandwidth experience with imperceptible delays between Halo studios worldwide. To ensure a 24x7 connection and eliminate the need for enterprises to manage the operation and maintenance of a Halo room, services offered include network operations and management, remote diagnostics and calibration, concierge, equipment warranty and ongoing service and repair. Participants can easily share documents and data directly from their notebook PCs with individuals in other rooms using a collaboration screen mounted above the plasma displays. The rooms also contain a high-magnification camera that enables individuals to zoom in on objects on a table, revealing the finest of details and colour shading, and a phone that opens a conference call line to those not in one of the Halo rooms. Microprocessor design and manufacturing firm AMD gains similar benefits from the HP Halo Collaboration Studio at its Sunnyvale, California, headquarters, and Austin, Texas, facilities. By giving participants the remarkable sense that they are in the same room, the Halo Collaboration Studio is already transforming the way businesses such as PepsiCo, Advanced Micro Devices and DreamWorks communicate across the globe. Early on in the production of the animated film Shrek 2, DreamWorks realized a significant return on investment using the Halo technology. By connecting its California teams in various locations, DreamWorks was able to speed up many aspects of the production.
